HUDSON is a manufacturer of World Class rowing shells and one of today's most innovative leaders in the development of racing hull shapes, carbon composite construction, and components specific to the sport of rowing. Industry success requires technical innovation, intuition and risk. The oars were first to be made from composite materials which HUDSON knew was the direction we had to take with bo
at construction. HUDSON was the first rowing boat builder in the world to combine and convert its fleet to composite construction and aluminum wing rigger technology. Today, this is now the industry standard at the top level of the sport. Through an ambitious collaboration with renowned naval architect Britt Chance, the new HUDSON SHARK SERIES shells were the first to market using ‘unsteady flow’ computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analyses. The SHARK hulls are designed to increase stability while maintaining outstanding performance characteristics. In conjunction with the design technology HUDSON has worked with composite material suppliers to adapt aerospace technology to create a new proprietary SHARK carbon that has lead to a hull construction that is now 400% more impact resistant and 50% stiffer then the previous Elite construction. Over the past couple of years, HUDSON has set a new industry standard for rowing shell manufacturing. Glen Burston, current Technical Operations Manager, attributes a big part of the HUDSON success to the skills of the manufacturing team. HUDSON boats are hand-crafted, and require strong technical skills and careful attention to detail to ensure the highest quality product on and off the water. HUDSON boats have won over 69 medals at the Olympic and World Rowing Championships since 1984. The current World Record for the Men's 8+ event (5:19) was set in a HUDSON at the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece. Notable partnerships include being the official boat supplier and manufacturer for RowOntario and all rowing programming at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, FL - the favored site for racing in the United States. HUDSON has transformed from a small domestic company to a fast growing success built upon athlete support and innovative engineering. With 90 employees at HUDSON HQ in London, ON, and more recently international support with HUDSON UK and HUDSON USA, HUDSON looks to support athletes to reach their goals of being the best in the world.
