Courses are offered by the Sailing School for youth and adult students and are taught by instructors certified with the Canadian Yachting Association (CYA); the Learn to Sail Program at the Fanshawe Yacht Club Sailing School can certify CANSail Levels 1 through 6. The sailboats used by the School include CL-14s, RS-Quests, RS-Feva, 420s, Laser Picos, Laser Radials, and Lasers. The annual sailing season at the Club runs from the month of May until October. The Club is located inside the Fanshawe Conservation Area; the entrance is off of Clarke Road at Veteran's Memorial Parkway, south of Fanshawe Park Road. The Yacht Club holds three official regattas (racing events) throughout the season: the June Bug Regatta, the Club Championship Regatta, and the Pumpkin Regatta. The June Bug and Pumpkin Regattas are open to everyone to participate in. Informal races for those looking to improve their skills are held every Wednesday afternoon and evening during the season. The sailboat classes in the Club range from small racing dinghies (Laser, Laser Radial, Wayfarer, Y-Flyer, 420, CL-14, RS-Quest, Dart) to larger cruising classes (including Catalina, CS 22, Hunter, Macgregor, Siren, Sirius, Tanzer, Venture and many more).

That’s a wrap for the FYC Club Championship! ⛵️

Saturday brought fantastic winds, great racing, and some very close competition followed by a lovely corn roast dinner with the club!

Unfortunately Sunday had to be abandoned due to light winds and rain.

A huge THANK YOU to all the volunteers who helped make both the racing and dinner happen. We couldn’t do it without you! 💙

🏆 Champions of Champions: Stay tuned! The race will be scheduled for a later date pending the weather (potential dates are either Wednesday, Thursday, or Sunday)

Day 1 weather was a little crazy with the first race abandoned due to lightning ⚡ and afternoon racing called off due to strong gusts 💨
