Born and raised in Rio de Janeiro’s North Zone, Roberto has spent the past nine years working as a dancer, choreographer, and researcher of Funk Carioca (a Brazilian music and dance genre). He has taken his work across Brazil and around the globe, sharing the dance styles born and shaped within Funk Carioca culture. 🇧🇷
Having already toured 13 European countries, as well as Argentina, Australia, and New Zealand, Roberto Soli is embarking on his fourth European tour, cementing his status as a leading global representative of Brazilian Funk. 🔥
“DE CRIA” TOUR:
“Cria” is a Brazilian slang term used to describe someone who was born and raised in a specific place, usually a favela, a community, or a working-class neighborhood, and has lived through the everyday experiences of that environment.
Building on this concept, the tour will explore the dance styles that make up “Funk Carioca” through the authentic lived experience of a Rio de Janeiro native. It encompasses dance, culture, history, and the incredible energy born in Rio’s favelas.🇧🇷
