Torrent Tae Kwon Do has done it again. They brought home 4 gold medals for kickboxing, point sparring and a silver for traditional forms and the Grand CHAMPIONSHIP in sparring in the Western Canadian Karate Championship tournament in Red Deer this weekend. A different style but skill is skill and something Torrent takes seriously when training up athletes. We are training our Team of 6 for Spain this fall, all from Lloydminster who through dedication and hard work are hitting the World stage. We are now open for registration for our fall season. So Awesome! Our Spain team accepting a donation from the Lloydminster Lions Club! Thank you Lloydminster Lions Club!!

Tonight, the Lloydminster Lions Club donated a total of $10,000 between the St. Mary’s school playground project, the Lloydminster Region Health Foundation, the Kiwanis Music Festival, the SPARK Foundation of Lloydminster, Lloydminster Minor Hockey, the Olive Tree and Torrent Taekwon-do. Amazing work!!

Torrent Tae Kwon Do attended Provincials this past weekend in Airdrie and is the best in Western Canada for specialty high kick! We brought home GOLD for all 3 divisons. Pre-junior black belt Scout Rassmussen(12), Junior Black Belt Reeve Hunt (16) and Adult Lucas Feeley(21) 2 time World Champion with a height of 285cm. All 3 also won GOLD in all their sparring matches. We aren't just self defence but are training up the next generation of high flying side kick and front snap kick jumpers. Team Canada will have 6 competitors all from Lloydminster representing our city in September. Congratulations to all our competitors ages 5 and up who brought home 24 medals in patterns and sparring.

What an awesome event! Once again, in partnership with Cenovus, Torrent Taekwon-Do hosted a bring your friend to class day. We had an amazing turnout! It was lots of fun and students got to learn what taekwondo is all about and enjoy an awesome demonstration from a world champion athlete, World Cup gold medallist Mr. Lucas Feeley performing a 288 cm jump front kick (3cm shy of the world record!!) Thank you to all the volunteers that helped and to all the students that brought their friends to learn what our passion is all about! Taekwon!

Bring a friend to class will be held Tuesday April 21st at 630 to 730. If you have a friend who would like to try tae kwon do for free let them know! You can also just bring a friend for fun too! Ages 7 and up. Let Mrs Feeley know if you are bringing a friend so she can add them to the list. Select and Elite can also attend this day with a friend.
