They Saved the Best for Last!

In a killer display of skill and teamwork, the U11A Stars ended their season and Provincials on a high note, claiming a decisive 3-0 victory over the Burlington Barracudas.

The Stars showcased everything we’ve worked on all season long, executed flawlessly: tight pinches, smart chips, unstoppable cycling, big face-off wins, clearing the danger zones, and relentless intensity. It was all there—smart passes, fierce net crashes, and battling hard in every play.

Special Moments:

Post-game, the referee recognized our goalie Gemma’s outstanding performance and handed her the game puck—an honour well-deserved for her incredible saves that kept us in the lead and notched her 19th shutout of the year.

Our co-captain Maddie, aka ‘Maddog,’ was unstoppable, earning her the final MVP puck and capping her season with her 53rd goal! From puck drop to final buzzer, she brought incredible intensity.

JJ scored her second goal of the weekend and brilliantly killed a 5 on 3; her speed was undeniable.

Ella, rebounding from a scary injury, answered Coach Jay’s direct challenge to her on the bench “Ella, pay them back with a goal and put them away!” Minutes later, she delivered.

After the game, our captains and assistant captains delivered emotional speeches to their teammates, thanking them for an incredible season in a heartwarming display of team spirit.

Thanks to every fan, parent, grandparent, and supporter who stood behind these girls this year. What a season!!!!

Tonight’s match at Provincials didn’t go as planned. We kicked off strong, dominating the first period, showcasing the skill that brought us here. But hockey is a game of moments, and a few unlucky bounces gave the the upper hand and the momentum they needed to pull a few goals ahead. There’s no denying they’re a great team and we enjoyed playing them.

In the end, we lost 4-1.

A shoutout to JJ who snagged the MVP puck when she managed to break through their defenses and score our only girl, bringing a spark of momentum back to our team.

Today’s game reminds us why we competed at the A-level this season— to challenge ourselves against the best, learn, and keep improving. It’s safe to say every player on this team has gotten considerably better.

Tonight, we shift our focus to celebrate our Senior players at our annual Senior Send-Off Party. It’s a night to honour their journey over the past two seasons, their leadership, and the unforgettable memories we’ve shared.

Let’s celebrate our stars tonight, and then it’s back to the rink tomorrow, ready for our final game of the 2023-2024 season.

What a showdown to kick off our weekend at Provincials! We ended with a close 2-1 loss against the Oshawa Lady Generals.

Wynne was our game MVP this morning. Wynne was everywhere she needed to be—blocking, pinching,clearing, and keeping the puck out of our zone with toughness.

Maddie “Maddog” ignited us early with a sweet goal, setting the pace with her always-relentless drive.

We were sadly missing one of our strongest forwards, Balokia, who was down and out not feeling well this morning. Her absence was felt by all of us. We’re wishing her a speedy recovery and hope she’s able to join us later.

Next up, at 5PM, we face the Haldimand Rivercats, known as one of Ontario’s best. We’re ready for the challenge.

After tonight’s game we’ll have some fun at our annual Senior Sendoff Party.

The Last Dance 💃

This weekend is the culmination of our incredible season. Tonight we’ll gather one last time for our final team practice 😭. On Friday, we come together as a team for the final time this season to compete in the 2023-2024 Provincial Championships in Toronto.

Hundreds of teams across all divisions embark on this journey, with our U11A division hosting the 20 top teams in Ontario. We’re ready to face the best of the best and prove that we belong among the elite.

Our journey begins with three crucial games:

• Friday, 9:30 AM: We face off against the Oshawa Lady Generals.
• Friday, 5:00 PM: We clash with the Haldimand Rivercats, known as one of the best teams in all of Ontario.
• Saturday, 9:30 AM: Our potentially final game is against the Burlington Barracudas.

The only way to move on is to finish Saturday’s games as the top team in your bracket. It’s a challenge but were ready to give it our best shot.

We know what we’re capable of. We’ve earned our spot here through hard work, determination, and pure talent. It’s time to play our game and show everyone what this Stars team is made of!

No matter the outcome, we’re already champions.

On Friday night, we’ll celebrate our Senior Stars and reflect on an amazing season at our annual Senior Sendoff party.

Our Stars secured a 6-0 win against the Lucan Irish in our final exhibition match before the Provincials. Thanks to the Irish girls for hosting us. They played well and showcased some incredible speed.

Leading our defense, our MVP Danica Strangway, channeled her inner Bobby Orr, skating the ice, end to end, with blazing speed and strong, tough defense. Her performance was nothing short of awesome, earning her the MVP puck today.

Maddie “Maddog” was in fine form as usual, adding a hat trick to her impressive season tally.

Ella found the net once again, continuing her impressive scoring streak, while Emma and Maya both made contributions with a goal each, highlighting the hard work we’ve put into our offensive strategies.

That’s a wrap on our exhibition games, and what a journey it’s been!

Next up, we take on Ontario’s toughest at Provincials. A huge shoutout to our Stars, Coaches, and supporting families for the unwavering dedication. We’re heading into Provincials on a high note, ready to shine and show Ontario what we’re capable of.

Our exhibition against with the London Devilettes ended in a thrilling 1-1 tie today, cut short by an early curfew just as the final minutes were heating up.

Sporting their 2024 Provincials hoodies, the Stars came ready, showing they’re geared up for next weekend.

Ella snagged the MVP puck with her tireless effort on both ends of the ice. Ella had multiple shots on goal, solid defense, and tough gameplay all around. She brings the effort and “no-quit attitude” we’re looking for.

Maddie “Maddog” bites again, getting us the scoreboard early with her killer shot and creating plenty of chances.

This afternoon we head into our final exhibition of the season against the Lucan Irish. It’s our last shot to fine-tune before the Provincials, and the team is looking good.

Ready for one more, Stars? Let’s show the Lucan Irish what we’re bringing to the Provincials.

This is it!

Our U11A Southpoint Stars have two final exhibition games this weekend before we head to Provincials.

Tomorrow, we’re up against our season-long nemesis, The London Devilettes at 10 AM and then again, taking on the Lucan Irish at 2 PM.

Both games may stream live on our page, so you won’t miss a moment.

It’s been an incredible journey getting here, and these games are our last chance to fine-tune everything we’ve been working on. The whole team is buzzing with energy and focus. We know what we’re up against, and we’re ready.

Hope you can all tune in and support us. Let’s show them what we’re made of.
