You don’t become the last of your species by accident. That’s not the way evolution works. The Aardvarks, who obviously chose their team name wisely many years ago, did it again. In spite of a lukewarm regular season, they started small with the FC Underdogs in the opening round, stunned top dogs Trimax in semifinal OT and finally beat the Benchwarmers FC 3-1 to capture a championship only Andrea and Dahlia had them winning. Bravo! Special mentions to FC Lagoria for taking out top seed FC Morris in a semifinal shootout before absolutely mauling second seed FB Binks; and Gotham FC for reversing a 4-game regular-season losing streak to win three straight when it counted most - both to the delight of panelist Mika, the only one of her peers to foresee both outcomes.

Congrats to all winners, favoured and otherwise. See you in winter!

On ne devient pas le dernier représentant de son espèce par hasard. Ce n’est tout simplement pas ainsi que fonctionne l’évolution. Les Aardvarks, qui ont manifestement choisi judicieusement leur nom d’équipe il y a bien des années, ont récidivé. Malgré une saison régulière plutôt tiède, ils ont commencé modestement en éliminant le FC Underdogs au premier tour, ont créé la surprise en battant les favoris de Trimax en prolongation en demi-finale, puis ont finalement vaincu le Benchwarmers FC 3-1 pour décrocher un championnat que seules Andrea et Dahlia leur avaient prédit. Bravo! Mention spéciale au FC Lagoria, qui a éliminé la tête de série FC Morris lors d’une séance de tirs au but en demi-finale avant de démolir complètement la deuxième tête de série, FB Binks ; ainsi qu’à Gotham FC, qui a renversé une série de quatre défaites consécutives en saison régulière pour enchaîner trois victoires de suite au moment où ça comptait le plus. Deux résultats qui ont fait le bonheur de Mika, membre du panel et la seule parmi ses pairs à avoir prédit ces deux scénarios.

Kicking things off in this crazy final Jas puts Benchwarmers up 1-0 early, however Vipers would storm back and eventually take a 3-1 lead led by Dahlia. Benchwarmers never quit though as Jas scores to make it 3-2, before Kat is in the right spot to tie it all up at 3-3.
