NOTICE TO THUNDERBIRD FAST DRAW CLUB MEMBERS/ASSOCIATES;
Howdy Folks; Well, let's try to get back on track to some degree anyway. This report will be mostly about our doing the Annual Historical Arms Collector's Show in March of this year. {Yes, I've spent a little too much time in the hospitals this year, but now have 5 stints & a Pacemaker to help me get by. {Plus now a couple of bandages from a recent fall.} Anyway, I'd like to Thank Shane Johnson for doing a report {on the Sturgis shoot}, and Tony Antao while I ..uh..had some time off...THANKS GUYS!
At March's HACS Show it was great to 'greet & meet' with the REAL 'gunfighters-those guys that are constantly attacking Canada's recent outlandish-and EXPENSIVE-gun laws; Gary Ma**er, Blair Hagen of NFA, Murray Gardner, and of course Gord Bader, one of the show's matriarches! Also good visits from some old members of the club, Stefano Infanti & Steve Madge, along with a 'drop-in' by our grandson, Mattias Robinson & his buddy Clayton Shulz! We introduced many, many folks to our booth
where we had a t,v, with Fast Draw videos, and they lined up to view our FD photos & news items as well, as they came by to visit-and find out what we were about. plus we kept the Reaction timers going for both days as well. We had LR&Gun Club banners posted along w. ours & there were Fast Draw demos {Japanese Style} as we used primers only loads {as blanks} to break balloons from an extremely close range-and that's not so easy! The audiences both days were good, and for myself, it's always fun to 'make fun' of our FD demontrators as they shoot with-and against-each other.
In between all this, the club did several Gun Of The Month trophy presentations {plus it's own year-end awards, which we plane to cover in a later report.}
COMING UP: This Friday night, the FD will be closed as, during this weekend, the rest of the LR&GClub is closed for the upcoming B.C Archery Championships However, the Friday after this one we have another Gun Of The Month contest, where we will be shooting at 4 in. Dia. Balloons in a Doubles {5 strings equalling 10 shots total.} event, with the contestant{s} standing 8 ft. Back & the two targets are 6 ft. apart. {Good practice for our upcoming World Blank Championships!}
The Friday following we will have to set up for a demo-or two-of our FD {regular Blanks} at the Jamestown's 'Gone Country' Cancer Fund. {More on this later..} Unfortunately, we've 'lost' the Annual Brae Jsland Western Week this year as it's being held on the weekend of our contest @ Fair!
And the weekend after Jamestown is our own World Blank FD Championships. {Please see attached brochure>} We will NEED all the shooters we can get-plus if you have anything you can DONATE to this event it will be MUCH appreciated and Paula Murphy can put your name-or your company's name, on a larg bulletin board which is displayed for the audiences at the contest to see, We willalso NEED all the help we can get as we must set up the tents, bacdrop, etc. On the Friday before the contest AND meet with the Celebrity shooters whom have to trained for their 'high noon' event @ Fair the next day!
And THEN we can get on with the results of those events PLUS our Sturgis & local events done by
members of this club! In the meantime, we hope that you enjoy our little 'foray' into our history, and
THANKS for your support!
