Offering up Storm for Lease or New Pasture

"Perfect Storm" - basically a golden retriever in a horse

15.2hh
Grade (papers lost in translation but we know the origin of the horse)
Probably Leo breeding
Estimated age based on teeth is 12 but he could be younger

Beautiful mover with so much potential...

I ended up with him because no one could catch him. Now he's easy to catch most days.

Started under saddle over the last year - lots of groundwork and light riding the last few months
Good feet
Good bone
Good wither
Nice, smooth transitions and movement
Free jumps beautifully
Automatic changes are easy for him
No buck/bolt/rear with me starting him
Great personality - genuinely loves being told he's a good boy

I really have a soft spot for this guy. He has a solid basis now - walk, trot and canter with some lateral work. He has been free jumped and looks amazing 😍 😍 😍 Not a lot of jumping with a rider yet. Just needs miles. Relatively uncomplicated. A bit spooky but not bad. Getting better. He tries so hard. He has loads of heart. He needs his person. I wish I had time!

He needs a confident rider to excel as he's sensitive. He moves perfect for the English disciplines and will be competitive if going in that direction. His work ethic is perfect. He will be used as a lesson horse in the next few months if I keep him. I also see him being a great pasture horse as he never gets tired.

12 🥕 🥕 🥕 will go up with more show miles. Offering him here first. Will advertise more widely later.

Up to date on teeth, osteo, deworm, feet. Negative Coggins tested.

At his first competition. Just gaining confidence off property. 3rd place in Green Horse.

Update: I will have to move this Friday's lessons. I can teach the following Sun (28th) or Mon (29th) anyone I need to move. I got word I need to pick up my horse in quarantine in Okotoks on Friday afternoon or else she will be alone in the stable - after everything she's been through, isolation will not be good for her. Sunday and Monday (June 27 & 28) are open - please let me know if there is a date that works for you to have a lesson from Friday or other days. I will reach out to my clients tomorrow (Monday)! Sorry for the inconvenience. It's been 2 months of stressing over this horse. I don't want to fail her at the bitter end.

Reminder: I am away next week (Canada Day week). No lessons Tues June 30 to the following week. There were/are still 4 weeks of lessons available in June and July so I'm not offering makeups for that particular week. I'm using that week to spend time with family and I will be gone to the Yukon for only a few of those days but Vince will be here.

Some want to get June's makeup lessons in before I go. I can teach Sat, Sun or Mon however I cannot make plans for those lessons until last minute. The quarantine facility holding my horse will not give an exact release date (should be the 26th or few days after)...

I need a 16 hour window to go to Calgary to pick up my horse one of those days, I just don't know which day I will be summoned to go! But the days I'm here I can get some people's make ups in, or we will have to wait until July.

We got our first off property competition of the year under wraps.. I can't wait to see how riders and horses progress this season!

Everyone who did the in-hand class did really good, except me (I forgot an obstacle). I don't recall the scores to know who placed.

Bonnie/Hiero and Amy/Unicorn scored well in Novice! Bonnie won Novice for the day.

Jordan/Zeus had a good run in Youth! They seem to be coming along really nice with good, quiet riding.

Storm did his first competition ever and placed 3rd in Green Horse, only 1.5 points behind 1st. I just wanted to focus on giving him a good experience as a basis for slowly increasing his confidence away from home. It started storming before Storm's run, go figure. I'm just happy he is building confidence, because I almost scratched when the wind and rain picked up and he was all tense.

Anja/Voodoo scored well in Non-Pro. Anja looked to be in the top 3 when I glanced at the score sheets. She got the log drag, that almost made Voodoo lose her marbles in practice. We practice dragging things at home but things that are dragging in the grass are always way more scary.

I rode Hauss in Open to work on his training and he got a really good score, I thought. It helped doing lots of canter in the warm up ring to take the edge off him. Hauss struggles so much with courage, and I thought he did pretty good as he was only a few points behind Banner. Banner was 2nd in Open.

I won $40 in Jackpot on Banner for 3rd. I took Banner just for fun to win back my entries because he's quick. Next time we'll win all back. I didn't push this time. The girls found what they will need to work on for next time!

Anyone who wants to join, there are still 2 competitions to qualify. They take 2 scores or best two scores in each division to win buckles and prizes.

I need to teach Vivid to stop and smell the flowers a bit!

The horse osteopath is here tomorrow (Thursday) to do body work on horses starting at 1pm until evening. We have some horses to get done (those who I've talked to). Depending on time, we might have room for a couple more.

Amy did a good job getting Unicorn confident with the water tonight. At first it was a big "no", and by the end, Unicorn was crossing the pond like it was nothing 😊
