The Municipality/Township and County have both been looking into making this project a reality! Your civic engagement efforts are paying off!
Essex Couty Update:
Essex County's County Wide Active Transportation System (CWATS) is updating its Master Plan. County Rd 31/West Ruscom River Rd, East Ruscom River Rd, and the stretch between the two on County Rd 42 made the list!
Currently, it looks like the County is willing to fund up to 40 % of the following projects:
A Paved Shoulder on County Rd 31/West Ruscom River Rd)
A Signed Route (Blue CWATS Signage) on East Ruscom River Rd
Buffered Paved Shoulder or Separated Bike Lane on 42. The color-coding was not clearly associated with one or the other.
Use the following links to let them know these routes are big priorities for you and your families/friends and that we'd like to see them built as soon as possible. The more responses stating that this is a priority, hopefully, the sooner it will be funded and built.
If you're looking for different/enhanced measures such as a two-way multi-use pathway (like Stoney Point) let them know!

Town of Lakeshore Update:
While the County has put us on their map, The Town of Lakeshore is completing a feasibility study to investigate options and cost implications of the preferred design solutions. We should be seeing the results of the study in 2021 as they were originally aiming to consult the public this December. The options they're looking at are paved shoulders vs building a single wider pathway on one side of the roadway (like Stoney Point I believe)
The Town is working to finalize the material to schedule a public information session to obtain public input before finalizing the study with the recommended design and associated preliminary cost (This is where we will all provide input to the Town about what we want).
The future planning of implementation through the CWATS (County Wide Active Transportation System) program would be the next step along with the future potential for additional grant funding possibilities (see the first part of this update).
These maps illustrate the CWATS network including existing and proposed facility types.
