🚨 Event Cancellation Notice – Lock & Paddle 2026 🚨

Due to the forecasted weather conditions and concerns about air quality, Lock & Paddle, scheduled for Saturday, July 18, has been cancelled.

Parks Canada has made this decision with the health and safety of participants, volunteers, and staff as the top priority. As the event depends on the operation of the Peterborough Lift Lock during the navigation season, it will not be rescheduledthis year.

🌲 Love the outdoors? Join our team this season!

Kawartha Adventure Rentals is hiring Delivery Drivers and In-Store Customer Service Staff for the upcoming season.

We’re looking for friendly, reliable people who enjoy working with customers, being outside, and helping guests get ready for their next adventure in Kawartha Highlands Provincial Park and the Kawarthas.

Positions are seasonal with full-time hours available. Part-time opportunities may also be available, but weekend and holiday availability is required.

📍 Located at 6401 Hwy 28, North Kawartha, Ontario

Driver applicants must have:
✅ Valid G class licence
✅ Clean driving record
✅ Weekend and holiday availability

Outdoor, camping, canoeing, or boating experience is a bonus, but a great attitude and willingness to learn are most important.

#3 (Final Update)
This is our third and final update on the ice conditions. Five days ago, you could still see some ice in the lakes, but now all of the ice has melted.
For safety reasons, please be cautious if you’re entering the park early in the season. All photos in this update were taken on April 20, 2026.
We’re not open yet for rentals, but online booking is available for Rentals later this spring and summer-reserve online at KawarthaAdventureRentals.ca or by phone at 705-559-RENT. You can reach us for any help with planning your Kawartha Highlands backcountry trips.

The lakes are still partially / fully ice-covered in many sections of the park, and they’re not ready for paddling yet.

• We’re not opening for rentals yet, but for anyone curious about current ice conditions and eager to paddle in Kawartha Highlands, we’ve got you covered. The park is still not fully ready, with ice lingering at multiple access points.
