Hi! It's Matt and I'm still in Banff in Canada!
The final prototype FATblades are being delivered this evening (GMT+7 hrs) meaning that they will go for final testing at Sunshine Village, Banff in the morning.
On the lead up to delivery, we just couldn't wait to do some other testing on our current prototypes so in the meantime, we decided to try a couple of things...
Firstly, from many requests from Kickstarter backers, we considered it important to test FATblades with standard conventional "front stap access" snowboard bindings and I have to report 100% success. I also found that it gave equally as good performance (as originally thought) in addition to ease of access. The previous manufacture of snowboard boots and bindings used and demonstrated in the video were manufactured by Flow but the boots and bindings used today, were of a more conventional type which were manufactured by Head.
We also decided to try a vinyl wrap courtesy of a fellow kickstarter graphics designer (Jarrett Kunze) who specialises in providing new vinly sheets to change the graphic on any ski, snowboard or even FATblades! As you can see below, the design worked well and for as little as a $35 pledge, you can remodel any existing design.
You can find out more about options for vinyl wraps on Kickstarter by visiting https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1892987443/custom-vinyl-wraps-for-skis-snowboards-and-skatebo?ref=live So why not take a look as they could be a great addition to your FATblades!
We wish Jarrett every success with his Kickstarter campaign!
Anyway, although the snow in Banff was fantastic today, the conditions were not ideal for photography. Nevertheless, here are some of the shots we'd taken.
We're really looking forward to trying out the final FATblades prototypes tomorrow and I know that Jay is especially excited about trying FATblades for the first time!
Further information to follow soon...
