Led by a team of artists with a passion for Jiu-Jitsu, AVA Submission Grappling was founded in 2017 as a local in-house tournament in Vancouver, British Columbia. AVA’s ruleset rewards submissions and minimizes stalling, refining the EBI Overtime and incorporates a seasonal ranking structure. Points accumulate throughout the year at Central, Regional and Coastal tournaments, leading to four major
events: Ultra, the season finale, Throne, an exclusive invitational where both THRONE titles and RISE Elite Youth titles (being introduce in Sept 2025) and the Legacy Series, debuting in 2026, which features Legends, a Masters-only tournament, and Origins, a youth-only tournament. All of the events have a distinct theme, showcased through the design of medals, belts, and awards, making this one of the unique hallmarks of AVA. In addition to hosting events, AVA has expanded to include a merchandise shop offering a range of gear and apparel.
