Thanks to everyone who came out to our first ever Parents vs Kids regatta!

Both parents and kids got to show off their skills …while some parents got a newfound appreciation for just how hard it can be to stay balanced while paddling! We did some warmups, enjoyed a BBQ lunch (thanks James Braun!), then raced multiple heats in k1, k2 and k4 (thanks Amanda Ferrari for being our DJ and emcee!) ..We finished off in the war canoe, giving a lot of us parents a first-time opportunity to experience something unique to Canada. We even had some fun at the end and worked together to sink it!

A great time had by all, a perfect way to cap off an amazing summer of paddling.

LOST & FOUND!

Summer camp may be wrapping up, but we’ve been left with quite the collection of lost and found items!

If you spot something that’s yours, please drop by the club tomorrow, Saturday Aug 29th between 11am - 1pm or send us a message and let us know what you’re looking for. We’d love to reunite these items with their owners!

Any items that aren’t claimed will eventually be donated, so please check sooner rather than later.

Thanks to everyone who came out to our Awards Gala & Rock the Dock dance tonight!

We got to hear from Head Coach Corey Firth how a change in approach this year helped lead to Orenda producing the top two U12 girls for K1 500m in Atlantic Canada last weekend. An amazing achievement considering how far we’ve come in just one year.

All paddlers who participated in ADCKC Champs were recognized for their efforts, including certificates for each participant and flowers for our two gold medalists Nora and Quinn.

Following the ceremony paddlers danced the night away for Rock the Dock.

Thanks everyone for coming and to the coaches & volunteers who helped make this a special evening for all.

Congrats to Nora and Quinn for each bringing home two medals at Atlantic Division Champs today!

Nora:
U12 K1 500m - Gold
U12 K2 500m - Gold

Quinn:
U12 K1 500m - Silver
U12 K2 500m - Gold

Also racing in the finals for Orenda were Keenan, Coleson, Nick, Mikayla and Holly. See the highlights pic for everyone’s results. Great job everyone!

Orenda was also awarded a banner for most improved club in points over last year. Our paddlers worked hard all year and it was truly amazing to be a part of this today. Let’s keep the momentum going and show everyone what we’re made of for next year!

We had a few more qualifiers today for tomorrow’s finals, great job everyone! Here they are:

We capped off the afternoon with a rooftop supper at Celtic Corner. Big day tomorrow so let’s make sure our racers are well rested and ready for the finals!
