I have heard Cathy Gautier say a number of times during the Canadian MD broadcasts that the ice makers made the ice faster for mixed doubles because “there is only one sweeper” and it has caught the players off guard. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS is all I have to say. Who did the ice makers talk to?? They obviously know very little about MD. It has been proven that the sweeper next to the rock does 75%- 80% of the work anyways. Why any ice maker thinks a concession needs to be made for mixed doubles is beyond me.
