I headed out to the first Vancouver Island Overland Rally to support a new event being built by good people. When we started AOAExpo, BC showed up for us in a big way, so this felt like the right time to return the favour.

What I didn’t expect was how well the themes of this trip would match up with some ideas I have been wrestling with as I near the end of my 30s and reflect on my own life story.

About how easy it is to get buried in life and let the days blur together. About what actually makes a story meaningful in the first place.

This weekend also brought a reminder that hit a little deeper than expected: the tribute to Matt and Stacey of Toyota World Runners. Their story ended far too soon, but its impact clearly lives on in the people who knew them, loved them, and were inspired by them.

So this video is part trip, part reflection

Maybe we spend too much time thinking a life has to look spectacular before it becomes worth talking about.

I don’t think that’s true.

I think a life is extraordinary because it is meaningful.

And if a life is worth living, it’s a story worth telling.
