Championship Final Highlights

Aldergrove vs. Kitimat

The arena is packed with hundreds of supporters, community members, family & hockey fans to watch the U13 tier 4 championship final. Aldergrove hoping to take the banner home with them, and Kitimat hoping to earn a win on home ice in front of their community.

First period - Kitimat took an early lead being the first to get on the score board, quickly followed by Aldergrove putting up 4 unanswered goals to end the first 4-1 for Aldergrove.
Second period - Both teams playing intense hockey, back and fourth. Kitimat able to secure a goal narrowing the lead, 4-2 for Aldergrove end of the second.
Third period - Kitimat closing the gap again 5 minutes in, making it 4-3 Aldergrove, energizing the crowd with a hopeful comeback. With 5 min left in the period Kitimat scores to tie the game with Aldergrove and sending the home crowd into a frenzy of excitement and forcing the game into overtime.
OT - 10 minutes of play on the clock for OT, both teams battling hard, back and forth... The crowd is giving the players so much energy in their support.... Kitimat gets a penalty, makes it through the penalty kill, Aldergrove gets a penalty, Kitimat on a power play, final minute of play and Kitimat is able to find the back of the net!!
The arena erupts with quite possibly the loudest crowd ever, wild cheering, hugging, crying celebrating - Kitimat wins in a spectacular come back and are the Champions on HOME ice.
Incredible battle by both teams!

The first day of the U13 Tier 4 BC Championships kicked off with incredible energy and excitement, setting the stage for an unforgettable tournament.

The community gathered early at the arena for a lively pre-party generously sponsored by LNG Canada. Guests were welcomed by upbeat music that created a fun and vibrant atmosphere. The arena buzzed with activity, featuring local vendors, interactive games, and plenty of entertainment for all ages. Highlights included a fastest shot competition supported by the RCMP, as well as a games corner with giant Jenga and co****le.

Fans were also treated to exciting hockey action leading up to the opening ceremonies. The ceremonies featured team and official introductions, along with speeches from BC Hockey Championship Supervisor Randy Henderson, KMHA President Amber MacGregor, and BC Hockey Officiating Lead and Kitimat Mayor Phil Germuth, officially marking the start of the tournament.

The evening wrapped up with the host team taking to the ice, bringing the community together for an exciting and memorable night of hockey.

The arena was filled with energy, excitement, and an incredible sense of community. Fans packed the stands each day with so much energy and it truly felt like more than just a tournament, it was a celebration of sport and community.

Our host team drew especially exciting crowds, with families and supporters showing up in full force. The cheers were loud, the pride was clear, and yes—moms definitely led the charge from the stands! The support created an unforgettable environment for every athlete who stepped onto the ice!

All six teams competed with determination, sportsmanship, and heart throughout the tournament. From strong defensive efforts to exciting offensive plays, each group represented their communities with pride. The growth, teamwork, resilience and community spirit displayed by each player was something to be proud of.

A sincere thank you goes out to all the officials for their hard work and dedication throughout the tournament. Your commitment helped ensure fair play and a positive experience for everyone.

We’re grateful to all the players, coaches, families, volunteers, and fans who made this Championship such a success, thank you from the bottom of our hearts .

Banquet Night highlights, kicking off the U13 Tier 4 BC Championship's with an exciting evening!
This was an opportunity for all 6 competing teams to come together and celebrate. The event was hosted and catered at the Luso Canadian club hall. The hall was decorated beautifully by amazing volunteers to make it feel extra special, and when the teams arrived at their table they received special championship momentos. The teams played an interactive game to encourage meeting each other and of course their was a friendly competition to see who ate next; best joke, dance off and even singing! The highlight of the evening was a special guest, sponsored by Pembina, Theo Fleury doing team meet & greets as well as our event guest speaker.
