allright so it's been about a week since posting anything and I kind of fell of the bandwagon for the challenge.

as Jocko says it's on me.

Things got in the way, felt burned out from working out and getting it with life...

Today is a new day though and a brand new week. So i'm restarting the challenge,

Life gets in the way sometimes, I get that. You need a break, I get that.
If you're tired, take that break.
Not feeling it, try going through the motions anyways.
Don't feel like working out. Go for even 5 minutes. Do a 2 minute workout of pushups and situps.
Don't feel like eating good, and just snacking on junk, throw it out so you don't have it in the house. or eat what you want but add a on the side to balance it out.
Getting burned out. Take that break you need. You will feel even better the next day well rested.
You have to be willing to get back on the horse though. No one is going to do the pullups but you. No one is going to do the work but you.

So get back on the horse, lace up your gear and get after it

Day 6 of Way of the Warrior Dad

I got up early this time, super early.
I actually got up before my alarm went off.
Set it for 4:55 am, I woke up at 4:45am - Major win.

Message from Way of the Warrior Dad
I'm going to say it over and over, a workout in the morning keeps a person's mind at bay.

Workout today was calisthenics
I only got up to 80 reps on the pushups but i finished off with battle ropes.

Today's schedule.
No sugar coated lies
Work on projects
Finish work on work stuff
keep reading.
Spend time with family.

Honestly I've been reading this book Way of the Warrior Kid https://amzn.to/3Zid4Uo

and I have to say it is a game changer for me and my business and my personal life.

It has really opened my eyes to
- how to defeat laziness,
- how to really gain discipline
- how to instill it into your kids
I keep trying to read a chapter to R but it never ends up. But I will soon.

One passage from the book that really opened my eyes and made me want to get up early and start this life of discipline was:

Marc: "Uncle Jake what are you doing up so early? It's 7am"
Uncle Jake: Oh man, I had the best morning ever.
I got a workout in, did some studying, got some reading done, all before the sunrise." you want to try it with me Marc.
Marc: Um I don't know,
Uncle Jake: come on, what do you gotta lose?
Marc: Ok sure
Uncle Jake: at 4:30 am Wake up sunshine

This really got me thinking, Why can't I be like Uncle Jake.
So that's the mission for this group.

I hope it inspires you to either change something in your life for the better, or at least wake up early and workout or get something done. It's done wonders for me.

Day 5 of Way of the Warrior Dad
Didn't get up early enough at least not 5am was exhausted and as jocko says the pillow caressed my head and made me go back to sleep
But I did get up at 7am lol
Went downstairs and got through a quick 30 minute workout of legs which felt great.

Always start your day with a workout
It releases those endorphins that help us feel good.

Work was good and even better when thr kid showed up after camp
During a meeting R was kind of in the way a bit
Grumpy dad would have yelled and told her to get out in a stern voice

Way of the Warrior dad said how about you go play with toys in your room and when I'm done with my meeting I will hang out with you and you can show me your math homework

Kids will always get in the way.
It's up to us not to lose our cool
Sometimes yes we have to instill discipline but don't always lose your cool otherwise that's what they will know and it will reflect upon them and they will mimic your behavior

Water intake was great
No sugar-coated lies
But yes I did Crack and have a beer
Did I indulge a lot, no
But I did earn it

Day 4 of Way of the Warrior Dad

1. Got up at 5am today before the enemy. It was awesome.
The workout was a bit sluggish at first and at times I felt like calling it a day, but I had a goal of 100 reps of each exercise and I hit.
Not going to lie they were there.
Took a preworkout drink halfway through to get the boost.

2. Workout was
Back rows with bar, Straight up raises with kettlebell, Single arm rows and cable row. 12 to 15 to 20 per set. Complete 5 to 6 sets for a total of 100 reps total for each exercises. Exercises were back to back.

3. Read last night before bed, Shut off the phone at least 15 mins before hand. This felt amazing.

4. R was still awake till 11pm, told her do 20 pushups and 20 squats.
Old me would have gotten mad and told her "Go to Sleep"
New dad said "Please go to sleep it's extremely late but since you have that much energy, do some exercises, so we did.
She hated it but eventually she fell asleep lol.

5. 6:36am Getting after the day.
Have some content to write, pages to create and videos to post.
Want to get this done before kids wake up and then I start work.

Life will always get in the way. Things will always come up. We have to learn the discipline to do things that we don't want to do. I didn't want to wake up at 5am but when that alarm went off, I was excited. I went back to sleep for 3 mins then it went off again and I got up. I now have more time to do the things I want to do before the day of life starts.
Get after it.

Put the kid to bed:
Old dad would have rushed it and said hurry up - keep on time.
Warrior Dad read 6 books he wanted but then had to shut it down by 8:37 pm. He did this though cause he knows he may not always get that reading time with his kids when they grow older.

It's 21:00 checking in on the status of the mission. So far so good. Got tempted fora coke or a beer but had a protein shake instead.
Going to finish some tasks then hit the hay with a good book.
Current reads: Way of the warrior kid - Marc's Mission.
The first one Way of the warrior kid was amazing. This one is just as good.

Message from Warrior Dad:

Some parents have all the breaks and some don't. Some may not always get a chance to read to their kids and some do. Take the time to read that extra little bit to them. It may help them later on in life and they will remember it. Plus when you're in a nursing home, you can tell them 1 more book 1 more book.

Setting: It's nighttime, 1 kids about to go to bed. the other one is out. The beer is looking mighty cold, the tv is looking enticing. Netflix is calling. But the warrior dad has stuff to work on. He wants to work on his projects, read some good books, maybe get another small workout in. What should the warrior dad do?

Old dad would have cracked open the last beer and possibly ordered more or pulled some from the basement if he had it, turned on Netflix and spent 30 minutes flipping through shows only to find nothing good.

Way of the Warrior Dad now works on his projects, works out, and reads. Will he complete his mission?

Workouts for Warrior Way of the Warrior Dad

Day 1: Calisthenics
12 pushups
20 squats
10 pullups - I can't do even 1 so working on it.
20 crunches
20 around the worlds with kettlebell
20 lunges
This is 1 set. Now do 10 of them
Total time: 1 hour

Day 2: Same thing again

Day 3: Boxing
Round 1 - 10 pushups 40 jabs each arm
Round 2 - 10 pushups 40 hooks each arm
(Perform this for 3 sets)
Round 3 - 20 squats move up to body shot
(Perform this for 3 sets)
Round 4 - 10 pushups 20 squats 1 min. jab cross while sprinting on the spot.

Day 4:
Not sure yet

Message from Way of the Warrior Dad
Try to get your workouts done first thing in the morning. Get Up early if you have to. doesn't have to be zero dark thirty but early enough. It really kick starts your day. If you can't workout in the morning, do it at lunch time. You don't need to drive somewhere to eat all the time. Have a protein shake and a turkey burger after.
If working out at nighttime works for you, even better.
