FirstStep Basketball was founded by two brothers from Kitchener, Ontario — Ethan Passley, starting point guard at Wilfrid Laurier University & one of the best players out Kitchener and well-renowned mentor, Former University star Jermaine Lyle — with a vision to redefine how athletes are developed.

Starting in 2020 during COVID as a small training initiative, the focus was simple: help athletes stay sharp and continue improving. What began with a handful of sessions quickly evolved into a growing demand for structured, high-level development.

Today, FirstStep Basketball operates as both a player development program and a competitive team system for athletes ages 10–19.

We focus on:

Precision over perfection
Game performance over drills
Confidence through discipline and ex*****on

We offer private training, small group development, and elite boys and girls teams for athletes serious about improving and competing at a higher level.

This is not casual training.

This is structured development built to produce confident, disciplined, high-performing athletes.
