Some athletes train hard.
Some athletes rebuild themselves entirely.
It’s been about a year and half now, since Sensei Adam Arbiter, of Gateway Martial Arts in North Bay, approached me to become his Sensei. In doing so, he committed himself to a level of training that very few people truly understand once the doors close and the work begins.
What started as refinement became transformation.
Together, we stripped things down and rebuilt from the ground up — kata mechanics, power generation, consolidation, efficiency, pressure, mindset, and the deeper connection between mind, body, and spirit that separates performance from presence.
The results speak quietly… but clearly.
Coming into Nationals on a 6-gold-medal streak through the WKC / Mid-Canada circuit, Adam has earned every step toward this moment through discipline, humility, and relentless work.
No shortcuts.
No noise.
Just preparation.
Nationals is different. The level rises. The pressure sharpens. That’s exactly why we train the way we do.
Proud of the work this man has put in and proud to stand beside him as he prepares to chase a place on Team Canada and the opportunity to represent our country at Worlds.
Train hard.
Grow strong.
Shine.
From all of us at Bushi Martial Arts, we are proud and honoured to have you in the family!
