Student Athlete Scholarship Opportunity

DEADLINE: Tuesday, September 15th at 11:59pm

The Athletic Promise Scholarship will award $1,000 to a student athlete in grades 9 to 12 or 2026 graduate from École Rose-des-Vents, Middleton Regional High School and West Kings District High School, who demonstrates exceptional athletic potential, dedication, sportsmanship, and commitment to excellence in their chosen sport. According to the application package, funding can be used to offset costs associated with training, coaching, equipment, travel, competition fees, camps, and other sport-development opportunities.

Our community lost a great friend and sportsman.... RIP Ben... Kingston-Greenwood have lost a shining star!

Our hockey community is hurting today as we learn of the passing of Ben Larouche.

A longtime official in the Greenwood area, Ben was a respected leader, mentor, and a pillar of the officiating community in the Valley and beyond. He most recently served as Hockey Nova Scotia's provincial zone coordinator for the Nova Region, and for decades represented the game with professionalism, integrity, and a genuine passion for hockey.

A 2025 recipient of Hockey Nova Scotia's Hal Lewis Official of the Year Award, Ben's impact on the ice was matched only by the energy, positivity, and camaraderie he brought to every officials' room. He left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege to work alongside him.

We would like to extend our sincere condolences to Ben's family, his many friends, and the entire officiating community. He will be dearly missed. ❤️
