As many of you know...I have a love hate relationship with the NBC show 'The Biggest Loser' I enjoy witnessing the transformations that happen on many levels with each and every contestant. Over the years, I have laughed, cried, screamed and cheered on...however, last nights Finale left me angry and in tears . The last time we saw Rachel she was healthy and strong and had just finished a triathlon. She was 19% body fat and was fit! I was so proud to watch everyone re-discover their inner strength and recognize their full potential. Last nights revealing of Rachel was upsetting to say the least. As a Trainer, I hate the scale, I don't see it as a true measure of health and fitness...this show just proved my point. Rachel went from being 260 lbs to 105. She is now underweight, has no muscle and looks gaunt. What happens to these contestants after they leave the ranch? Have the trainers not taught them about balance? I hope NBS will make a much needed statement regarding this issue of promoting weight-loss as opposed to promoting a healthy maintainable lifestyle. Maybe the show could measure success differently in the next seasons to come? tp://blog.zap2it.com/pop2it/2014/02/the-biggest-loser-why-was-rachel-frederickson-allowed-to-lose-too-much-weight.html
Rachel Frederickson won Season 15 of “The Biggest Loser,” going from 260 pounds to a jaw-dropping 105 pounds. But did she actually win?
