It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to a truly remarkable gentleman and a cherished member of our sporting community.

Neil Neasmith, who was inducted into the Kingston & District Sports Hall of Fame in 1999, as an Athlete in Baseball and Basketball, passed away on August 15, 2026 at the age of 88.

Neil was an amazing basketball player and referee, a baseball and softball player, and a tennis player. His passion for sports was evident to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

As a long time teacher and principal with the Frontenac County and Limestone Boards of Education, Neil influenced countless young lives over the years.

While Neil’s passing has left a tremendous void, his legacy will live on through the many people he inspired.

To Neil’s wife, Mary, his children and his grandchildren, may he rest peacefully and may you find comfort in knowing just how much he meant to so many.

There will be a Celebration of Life on Sunday, September 13 from 2-5 pm at James Reid Funeral Home (1900 John Counter Blvd; please enter from the rear parking lot doors). A few words of remembrance will be shared at 3 pm.

During our Induction Ceremony on Friday May 1, 2026, we honored Ian MacAlpine with a plaque as a thank you for many years of service to the Kingston and District Sports Hall of Fame.

You're service and dedication to the Hall has not gone unnoticed.

The Kingston & District Sports Hall of Fame welcomed five new inductees into the hall during the 29th Annual Induction Ceremony on Friday May 1, 2026 at the Quality Inn and Conference Centre.

Congratulations on this well-deserved honor to Corrie "Kraats" Abrams as a Builder in Sports Journalism, Rob Bagg as an Athlete in Football, Douglas Graham as a Builder in Sports Journalism, John MacMillan as an Athlete in Harness Racing and Steven Vallier as a Builder in Baseball.

We now have 205 outstanding Athletes and Builders in the Kingston and District Sports Hall of Fame.
