What a busy couple of weeks we've had! Our season is truly under way, and we hit the ground running... or hit the water paddling 🤔
We've welcomed new dragons, introduced a revamped training plan, registered two boat crews for our first festival of the season, started training for said festival, had pub socials, got some boat repairs done, and if all that wasn't enough... we hosted an official steering course. All the while (well, except for the pub socials 😉) re-acquainting ourselves with the magnificent scenery of our training area. Looking forward to a fabulous season!

And we're off!
Three boats full of dragons headed out for the first official Kingston Dragon Boat Club session of the 2026 season! Woo-hoo!
Mother Nature provided a perfect evening for paddling and we certainly made the most of it.
With a wonderful mix of returning and new members, we're very excited about the upcoming season. Great times ahead!

Ready-Ready! Returning members worked together this evening to get our boats back in the water, after a long winter's wait. We even had time for a quick paddle!
Our official start is next week, when we look forward to welcoming all members - returning and new!

A Tale of Two Dragons... who longed for one more adventure before hibernation set upon them. And so, they summoned their crew of loyal paddlers - the mighty Dragonfly'rs - and a few from the Chestmates (a neighbouring clan). All set out on a lovely early autumn day for a journey up the picturesque Cataraqui River, towards the Kingston Mills Locks. The group arrived at the Locks and were warmly welcomed by a lovely young maiden (and her equally lovely mother). After being granted access through the Locks, the weary traveling party was treated to a feast prepared by the young maiden's father. The valiant knights guarding the Locks partook in the feast as well and a great time was had by all. The gathering was treated to some fine bagpipe entertainment in this idyllic setting by the water.
Time came to commence the journey home. Through the Locks once again, with the young maiden showering the Dragons and paddlers with sprigs of wildflowers as she bid them farewell.
After another lengthy but pleasant paddle, the Dragons returned safely to their base. They, as well as their faithful Dragonfly'rs, will fondly remember and recount this tale during the colder season ahead...
A warm thank you to all who participated or assisted in making this event the truly memorable day that it was 💕

Tuesday evening's excursion to Cedar Island is sure to feature in this summer's "highlights reel" of the Dragonfly'rs who took part. What an absolutely perfect summer's evening, with calm waters and spectacular sunset. How truly fortunate we are to paddle in this area !!!

🎵🎶 Sooomewheeeeere, ooover the rainnnnboooow 🎶..... there's a crew of Dragonfly'rs braving the elements and having a good time. After all, if we didn't like water, we'd pick another activity!

Dragonfly'rs are social creatures. And so, our dragon boat season isn't all work and no play. Today's paddle to Huckleberry Island was, as usual, a highlight of the season. Great company and good food, in an absolutely beautiful setting. A heartfelt thank you to our fabulous hosts, George and Lorraine.
