Feeling very satisfied with this week of training.

Top sets from the past week ….

Back Squat - 295x1 (93% 1RM)
Bench Press - 210x1 (105% 1RM)
Deadlift - 445x1 (89% 1RM)
4x4 Assault Bike Intervals

Great HRV scores all week. My body isn’t feeling beat up from all the heavy work and my energy levels are consistent.

2 months no alcohol. It’s amazing how even a couple beers on the weekend can destroy sleep and training. Sobriety is a beautiful thing.

I feel sharper than ever as a coach. My excitement for my own training definitely bleeds into my excitement to coach.

Life is good.

What makes this bar so special and specific to deadlifts?

• More flexible than a standard power bar, so the bar bends first and the plates lift more gradually, giving a smoother “progressive” pull.
• Thinner (27 mm) than most power bars (28–30 mm), which adds flexibility and can make gripping easier, especially with a double-overhand hook grip.
• Longer sleeved, letting you load more plates (helpful with wider gym plates) and also contributing to that progressive pull.
• Special knurling, aiming for a mix of big knurl points with sharper tips for strong grip.
• Center-only knurling, so there’s grip for narrow hand placement without knurling along the shaft that could scrape your shins during the pull.

I have a personal goal to deadlift 3x my bodyweight. Still a ways to go, but this should help.

The first annual Training with Tyson Christmas Eve liftoff was a huge success!

I’m so proud of everyone for coming out and putting in a huge effort.

I’ve never run a mock powerlifting/weightlifting meet. Overall it went incredibly smooth.

I hit PR squat of 315lbs. I’ve been dreaming about 3 wheels for a long time. Over the moon about it. I was hoping for a 1000lbs total but was completely gassed by deadlifts. Attempted 465 and just knew I was toast after that. Only took 2 attempts. After my 460x4 PR last week I ordered a sumo deadlift bar. It hasn’t arrived yet but I might have had more luck with it today.

Regardless amazing day and an amazing group of people! No better way to start the holidays.

Back Squat - 315
Bench - 200
Deadlift - 405

Total - 920

Happy holidays!! See you in 2026 🎄🎅❄️☃️

Very successful day! I haven’t been that anxious or nervous in a long time. My stress score and HR from Garmin reflect this haha.

It was 35 degrees inside the gym so that also played a role. But to be honest it was mostly the nerves of competing. Glad to have the first competition out of the way. Excited for a day off tomorrow and the back to training.

Huge thank you to and for hosting a great event. And thank you to my fellow competitors for the welcome environment. Thank you to for all the support leading up to the event. And thank you to my close friends for coming to watch/support. .grant.372 .is.spelled.bailie

And amazing work to my client .at who went 5/6 and also competed for the first time. Even though I did her math wrong and made her warm up heavier than she should have haha. The lbs to KG is new to me.

Our first ever Friday max out session. Forcing ourselves to get comfortable with the uncomfortable. A limited number of attempts at each lift on a timer. I guess you could call this the first official session of the Limestone Weightlifting Club 😂

In a real competition you only get 3 attempts. We took 6 snatches and 5 clean & jerk.

Here are the highlights.

If running still feels miserable—or like you’re not getting anywhere—this one’s for you.

These are some of the biggest mistakes I see (and some I’ve made myself). Most new runners are either going too hard, are inconsistent, or think running is supposed to suck.

The fix? Start slower than you think. Get consistent. Build your aerobic base before chasing speed. And maybe most importantly… find someone to run with.

Swipe through for 7 common mistakes and what to do instead.

There are several run clubs in the city. I don’t know if others charge, but mine is free. Maybe you just want to start with a friend or a neighbour. But don’t give up on running!

TWT Running Club week 2!! Here is there live reaction when I told them at the end that we actually did 12k and not 10k haha. I knew we could do it. Mind over matter. Great run and great chat!!

I made an effort to record some sets today to remind people what we do at Training with Tyson! Highlights from 7 and 8am sessions this morning.

Front Squat - 90x6
Pause Front - 65x4
Weighted Chin Up - x6(10lbs)
Back Squat - 185x6
Neutral Grip Pull Up - x6
Nordic Hamstring Curl - x6
Bench Press - 115x6 **heaviest female Bench!
Incline DB Press - 120x10
Pause Deadlift - 285x4 **dude is only 🔥 lately
Safety Bar Squat - 155x6

Reminder that strength training is about the long game! Most of these people have trained with me for 6+ years. Lifting this much weight takes time, dedication, persistence, and the right attitude. Nothing in life worth doing is easy.
