One of my clients completed her 3-month reassessment, and the results were exactly what we hoped to see.

✔ Increased muscle mass
✔ Reduced body fat
✔ Increased BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate)

And no, there were no extreme diets, detoxes, or hours of cardio involved.

The formula was actually pretty simple:

💪 Consistent strength training
🥚 Protein at the right times throughout the day
🚶‍♀️ Healthy habits outside the gym
⏰ Patience and consistency

This is why I'm so passionate about helping women understand body composition.

The scale doesn't tell the whole story. We can improve our health, build muscle, support our metabolism, and change how we feel long before we see dramatic changes in body weight.

The goal isn't to be smaller.

The goal is to be stronger, healthier, and more capable than you were 3 months ago.

And that's exactly what she accomplished. 💛

For years women were taught to focus on weight.

Less weight.
Smaller jeans.
Lower numbers.

But during perimenopause and menopause, our priorities need to shift.

I want women focusing on:

✔ Building muscle
✔ Maintaining bone strength
✔ Improving balance
✔ Protecting their independence
✔ Increasing energy

Because the goal isn't simply to weigh less.

The goal is to be able to do more of what you love for decades to come.

That's why strength training is at the center of everything we do at Her Strength Studio.

Strong isn't just how you look.

Strong is how you live.

The goal isn't perfection.

The goal is awareness.

A baseline today can help us catch muscle loss early and take action.

Body composition matters at every age.

This client is in her 20s, which means our goals look a little different than many of the women I work with.

We're focused on maintaining and building muscle, supporting a healthy amount of body fat, and creating habits that will benefit her for decades to come.

One of the reasons I love body composition assessments is that they help us look beyond the scale.

The scale can't tell us:
✔ How much muscle we're carrying
✔ How much body fat we have
✔ Whether we're moving in the right direction

Those things matter.

Whether you're 25 or 55, muscle is one of the most valuable assets you can invest in.

The earlier we start building it, the more we have to protect as we age.

Because strong isn't just a goal for later in life.

It's something worth building right now. 💪

A baseline isn't a judgment.

Some women are nervous about stepping on my InBody scanner.

I understand.

But here's how I look at it.

Getting a body composition assessment is no different than checking your blood pressure or cholesterol.

You're gathering information.

Not assigning worth.

Not earning a grade.

Just learning where you are today.

Because if we don't know where we're starting, how do we know if our training, nutrition, and lifestyle habits are working?

A baseline gives us something to compare against in the future.

And that information can be incredibly powerful.

"We've been working together for 3 months now, and I'm back down to the same body weight I was this time last year.

But I don't feel at all like I did last summer.

I wasn't exercising or strength training then. Even though I weigh the same, I feel like a completely different person.

So much stronger. So much better."

👇

This is exactly why the scale doesn't tell the whole story.

The number on the scale only tells us how much we weigh.

It doesn't tell us how much muscle we've built.
It doesn't tell us how much stronger we've become.
It doesn't tell us how much easier everyday life feels.

As women enter perimenopause and menopause, maintaining muscle becomes one of the most important things we can do for our health, mobility, metabolism, and independence.

Sometimes the biggest transformation isn't reflected in a lower number on the scale.

Sometimes it's feeling stronger, moving better and having more energy & confidence for the things you love.

That's the kind of progress worth celebrating.

Strong feels different. 💪

Why I'm so picky about push up form...

Safety & function!

A push up is not just a chest exercise.

It’s a FULL BODY strength movement.

When done properly, push ups train:
✔ shoulder stability
✔ core control
✔ upper body strength
✔ posture
✔ body awareness

But only if the joints are in positions that allow the body to produce force safely.

That’s why we avoid the “elbows flared out wide” style.

Instead, we keep elbows closer to the ribs and shoulders stacked in stronger alignment.

More control.
More support.
More functional carryover into everyday life.

We train movement quality over ego & intensity.

⁉️Why I'm so picky about push up form...
Because we train for FUNCTION & SAFETY… not just to say we did push ups.

At Her Strength Studio, we keep the elbows close to the body and the hands aligned with the shoulders. Why?

Because the shoulder joint is strongest and safest in its shortened or mid-range position.

Wide push ups place the shoulder in a more lengthened position where there’s less stability and more strain on the joint.

Especially for women over 40, we’re not interested in beating up joints for the sake of a harder exercise.

We’re interested in building strength that supports life:
✔ carrying
✔ pushing
✔ getting up off the floor
✔ staying independent
✔ protecting shoulders long term

At this stage of life, our goals are different.

It’s less about “shrinking” yourself…
And more about building yourself up.

Building strength.
Building muscle.
Building bones.
Building confidence.
Building a supportive community of women who remind each other what they’re capable of.

That’s what we do here.

We train for the life we want to keep living.

Strong.
Capable.
Independent.
Together.

05/21/2026

Training isn’t about looking like someone else.
It’s about staying capable in your own life.

The goal isn’t perfection.
The goal is independence.

The goal is longevity.

To trust your body.
To have the energy to say YES to the things you love.

That’s why we train consistently instead of chasing random workouts.

Because strength is built over time.
Confidence is built over time.
Resilience is built over time.

And every class, every rep, every small effort adds up.
