Our annual Nations Cup Bonspiel, held last Saturday, challenged teams representing our community's cultural heritage - Irish, German, Scots, Kashub, English, Dutch, Polish and French.
This colourful event brings out good spirited rivalries, spectators, heritage foods, flags and much laughter.
Congratulations to gold medal winning Kasbub team. The Geman team took silver and the Irish scooped bronze.
Thanks to all for a memorable day in Killaloe.πŸ₯ŒπŸ₯‡πŸ₯ˆπŸ₯‰πŸ†

Congratulations to our Killaloe A ladies team skipped by Mary Anne Murray! On March 3, they captured the Autumn Leaves trophy for the Renfrew County senior ladies’ inter-club competition.
Mary Anne’s foursome led the 12-team league in season total points then slid on to claim the trophy in playoff games against Arnprior A and Renfrew A teams.
The playoff team consisted of skip Mary Anne Murray, Ellen Wyss, Leslie Muzzi and Beth Kennedy but many other curlers contributed to our club’s success: skips - Gisele Dickieson (also the league convenor) and Carol Ann Zohr: players - Joanne Murray, Cathy Pitts, Barb Cardwell, Karen Delcourt, Debbie Voldock, Corinne Higgins, Lynn Homer and Janet Barnett,
This is the third time a Killaloe team has taken home the hardware in recent years.
Well done ladies!

The odds of scoring an 8 point end is 1 in 120,000.
Don Kuaick skipped his team of Mary Anne Murray (L) and Derek Dawkins (C) this remarkable accomplishment on Monday Feb 23. Unfortunately teammate Alli McGrogan was unable to join them for that game.
Congratulations to all!
On Feb 2 2014, Don also skipped his team to an 8-ender. Wikipedia says the probability is this event happening twice in a curler's career is astronomically low - "lottery level".
Truly amazing!!!

Our ladies Rockspiel tournament delivered kurling, kostumes and karoake for a fun day in Killaloe. It was a close finish but the Metallicurl team skipped by Gisele Dickieson narrowly edged over the Rock Stars team skipped by Grace Fabian and Beast of Burden foursome lead by Mary Anne Murray.
Best Costume prize went to Red Rock Rockers.
Special thanks go to: our karoake DJ Norman Fullerton for outstanding entertainment; the awesome men who took over kitchen duties and our generous donors and sponsors - Chris Gienow, Honest Herbs, V&S Stedmans, Engine House Coffee, New Image Beauty Salon, Madawaska Coffee, Wilno Tavern Restaurant, Killaloe Village Pharmacy and Killaloe Mini Storage.

Our annual Community Funspiel wrapped up two days of games which welcomed players of all levels of experience to enjoy our Killaloe hospitality.
Sixteen teams were vying for top scoring hoonours but
the Chapeskie Construction foursome of Andrew (Googer) Chapeskie, Neil Mullin, Mary Prince Mullin and Marty Chapeskie won bragging rights for this year - but they'll be strongly challenged in 2027!
Thanks to our volunteer ice techs for great conditions and to the Wilno Tavern Restaurant for continuing support.

The Dave Shulist/Phil Skebo inspired rivalry between Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadiens hockey fans heated up the Killaloe curling ice this past Saturday.
At the end of play, the Montreal men captained by Jerome Shulist edged out Toronto curlers lead by Bernie Fenucane with both overtime and shoot-outs to capture the cup once again.
Thanks everyone for a terrific spiel!
