🏊 Kerrobert Swimming Pool – 2026 Season Schedule Update 🏊
We know many residents have questions about the changes to evening public swimming hours for the 2026 season. We appreciate the feedback we've received and would like to explain the factors that led to this decision.
The primary reason for the reduction in evening swim times is staffing availability. At the time the schedule was created, we had only three full-time senior lifeguards available. These staff members are responsible for teaching morning swimming lessons and are also required to supervise public swimming. Lifesaving Society regulations require a minimum of two senior guards during public swim periods, making it difficult to extend operating hours while maintaining safe staffing levels.
In addition to staffing challenges, we reviewed attendance patterns from previous seasons. Evening swims averaged approximately 7 swimmers per session, while the pool continues to operate at a significant subsidy from the Town. In 2025, the pool served 2,387 users and required a subsidy of approximately $35 per user to operate.
That said, we heard the concerns from residents and have worked to create additional opportunities for families to enjoy the pool this summer.
Additional Swim Opportunities Added
✅ Tuesday Evening Public Swims in July and August
✅ Additional Paddling Pool Hours throughout June, July and August
We understand these changes may not work for everyone, but they were made to ensure we can continue offering safe, sustainable pool operations throughout the summer season. Thank you for your understanding and support, and we look forward to seeing you at the pool this summer!
