Across the Lake Swim

Across the Lake Swim Experience the magic of open water swimming in breathtaking destinations. Includes Canada's longest running and largest open water swim event in Kelowna, BC.

Every year hundreds of swimmers challenge themselves to swim the 2.1km distance across pristine Okanagan Lake in Kelowna, BC Canada. Funds generated by the swim are directed to the YMCA Okanagan Swims program which is solely funded by the Across the Lake Swim Society. Each year we send over 1700 Grade 3 kids for FREE swimming lessons.

Sometimes the biggest victories aren't measured by a clock.

They're measured in moments like this. A high five after stepping out of the water. A smile that says, "I did it." The confidence that comes from taking on a challenge and discovering you're capable of more than you thought.

Open water swimming isn't just about crossing a finish line. It's about building confidence, overcoming doubts, and celebrating every step of the journey along the way.

Never underestimate the power of a well-earned high five. 🙌

July 5th is coming up quickly, and soon swimmers will be swimming their way in the warm waters of Osoyoos Lake.

There's something special about swimming in Canada's only true desert. Surrounded by rolling hills, vineyards, and stunning desert scenery, Osoyoos offers an open water swimming experience unlike anywhere else in the country.

Take on the 1.5 km, 3 km, or 5 km distance, and be treated to warm water, incredible views, and a finish line atmosphere that makes the day unforgettable.

If Osoyoos has been on your swimming bucket list, now is the time to start counting down. We can't wait to welcome everyone to the first Across the Lake Swim of the season.

That smile says it all. The swim is done. The finish line has been crossed. And for a moment, everything else fades away.

Every swimmer arrives at the finish with their own story. Some came to challenge themselves. Some came to conquer a fear. Some came to achieve a goal they've been working toward for months. But they all share that same feeling when they step out of the water: pride.

It's not about how fast you swam. It's about showing up, taking on the challenge, and finishing with a smile.

These are the moments that keep us coming back to the lake year after year. ☀️🏊

Some swims are measured in kilometres. Others are measured in moments like this.

The finish line is where the early mornings, training sessions, nerves, and determination all come together. It's where friends, training partners, family members, and fellow swimmers celebrate what was just accomplished.

That feeling at the finish is something special. The smiles, hugs, and happy tears are a reminder that these events are about much more than swimming.

This is what Across the Lake Swim is all about. ❤️

Open water swimming has a way of bringing people together. Training partners become friends, nervous first-timers become confident swimmers, and finish lines become celebrations.

This is what Across the Lake Swim is all about. Not just the swim itself, but the smiles before the start, the support along the way, and the sense of accomplishment when it's all done.

🙌 This is the feeling.
Arms wide. Heart full. That moment when the hard part is behind you and you realize you did it.
It doesn't matter how long it took or how the swim felt in the middle. The finish hits the same every time: pure, can't-stop-smiling joy. 💛
To everyone who's ever come out of the water with their arms in the air, you know exactly what we mean.

Some swims are about speed. Others are about simply being out there.

Moving through calm water with nothing but the sound of each stroke and the sparkle of the morning sun. It's a reminder that open water swimming doesn't have to be about chasing a time. Sometimes it's about finding a rhythm, clearing your mind, and enjoying being part of the lake.

Every swimmer has their own reason for getting in the water.

The lake is waiting for you.
Calm water. Mountain views. That finish-line arch ready and waiting. There's nothing quite like wading in and swimming a lake with hundreds of others who get exactly why you're here.

The water doesn't care about your pace, it just wants you in it.

What a great morning at yesterday's Fresh Air Open Water Swim Clinic!

The weather couldn't have been better, the lake was calm, and it was fantastic to see such a strong turnout of swimmers of all abilities. Whether it was your first time in open water or you're getting ready for another season of swimming, it was great to see everyone out enjoying the lake.

We'll be back again next Saturday at Boyce-Gyro Beach. Bring your goggles, your swim cap, and a smile. We can't wait to see everyone back in the water.

See you next week!
