Saturday practice on Okanagan Lake did not disappoint. ☀️🚣‍♀️🐉

Another beautiful day in Kelowna, BC with calm water, sunshine, mountain views, and a boat full of smiling paddlers. Honestly… not a bad way to spend a Saturday.

It was great to see everyone back on the water as we roll into our regular season with Dragonfire, Flowriders, and Paddleholics all getting moving again. The energy is building, the timing is coming together, and the club is already starting to feel alive for another amazing season.

These early practices are where we shake off the rust, reconnect as teammates, welcome new faces, and remember why we love this sport so much.

And yes… the lake was showing off a little. We’re not mad about it. 🌊😎

🌊 Another Beautiful Weekend on the Water! 🐉☀️

Saturday at 10:00 a.m. and Sunday at 12:00 p.m., Okanagan Dragon Boat Racing Club was back out on the lake for another awesome weekend of paddling.

And honestly… the Okanagan showed off. 😎

Calm water, sunshine, great energy, and another strong turnout from our club members made for two fantastic practices. Our paddlers are getting sharper every week, the timing is coming together, and the boats are starting to feel stronger with every stroke.

This season is already building into something special.

We have three teams looking strong this year, and even better, we’re coming together as one big club — supporting each other, learning together, laughing together, and putting in the work on one of the most beautiful lakes around.

Whether you’re brand new, returning after some time away, or curious about trying something different, this is a great time to come out and give dragon boating a try.

No experience? No problem.
Nervous? Totally normal.
Want to meet great people, get active, and spend time on the water? Perfect. That’s exactly what we do. 🙌

Practice 3 & 4 are in the books, and Okanagan Dragon Boat Racing Club is officially finding its rhythm again. 💥

Our second weekend back on the water was packed with energy, smiles, teamwork, and that awesome feeling of getting the boats moving again on beautiful Okanagan Lake. We’ve had a great mix of new members stepping in for their first experiences and veteran paddlers dialing their skills back in for the season ahead.

This is what makes ODBRC special — a club where people can come out, learn, improve, work hard, laugh a lot, and feel like part of the crew from day one. Whether you’re brand new to dragon boating or returning with years behind the paddle, there’s a place for you here. 🙌

Every practice is another step forward:
Stronger timing. Better teamwork. Sharper skills. More confidence. More boat speed. And a whole lot of fun along the way.

We’re lucky to train on one of the most beautiful lakes anywhere, in an environment that pushes people to grow while still keeping things welcoming, supportive, and fun. That’s the kind of club we’re building, and these weekends are exactly what it’s all about.

ODBRC is back on the water — and leading the way in Kelowna! 🐉🔥

This past Saturday and Sunday, the Okanagan Dragon Boat Racing Club was out on the lake for our second day on the water this season, proud to be the first club paddling in Kelowna this year.

We had a boat full of strong returning members, some awesome new faces, and the kind of beautiful day on the water that reminds you exactly why we love this sport. The lake was calm, the energy was high, and the smiles said it all.

At ODBRC, we train hard, support each other, and have a blast doing it. From first-timers to experienced paddlers, there is a place for everyone in our club.

If you have ever thought about trying dragon boat, this is your sign.

$70 per person, additional donations welcome, Funds raised go to support the CANADIAN NATIONAL PARA DRAGON TEAM in 2025 as they Race in GERMANY

Sunday, July 28:

10:00 Dryland Discussion on technique: most common technical flaws in paddlers & reviewing stroke fundamentals
11:00 on Water: warm-up with technical drills, there will be one-on-one instruction in the boat
12:00 Lunch Break
13:00 on Water Skills in Practice with Video

Each paddler will receive via email a personalized, annotated video giving them things to work on in their own practices.

Additional video review done within 2 months post the clinic to assess progress.

This clinic is open to & suitable for all levels of paddler whether you're just starting & want to get a solid technical grounding or have been at it for years and are looking to get the most out of your stroke

Funds raised from the clinic will support the 2025 Canadian National Para Dragon Boat Team to help offset uniform, travel and accommodation costs in participating in the IDBF World Championships

Cost is $70 for clinic which includes the half day session plus an additional 2nd video for review 2 months post the clinic for further annotation. Please specify in the comments. JULY 28 PADDLE CLINIC

Anyone outside the ODBRC CLUB: cost will be $80 ($70 for the clinic plus the $10 drop in fee to cover the boat usage and insurance)
