Okanagan Freestyle Fencing

Okanagan Freestyle Fencing Training recreational and competitive fencing throughout the Okanagan It is a dynamic sport fit for people of any age or gender. Matt Clarke

Hello everyone,

My name is Matt Clarke and I am the head coach of Okanagan Freestyle Fencing. I have been a fencer since 1998 and have competed in many tournaments and am now concentrating on coaching the Okanagan Freestyle Fencing club, established in 2008. Okanagan Freestyle Fencing would like to present the opportunity for anyone the to try fencing. Training as a fencer will benefit you by

* Getting a healthy dose of cardio exercise
* Improving balance and hand - eye coordination
* Meeting new people and trying something new
* Improving mental aspects of your life

Fencing is considered a game of mental chess with the same aspects of focus and decision making. These attributes help trainees improve quick decision making skills, mathematical skills and focusing. While Vernon holds the largest number of fencers in the Okanagan, it is the club’s goal to spread throughout the Okanagan and offer recreational and competitive programs. So far there are programs run in Vernon, Armstrong and Lake Country (please check your city’s leisure guide for more details). Okanagan Freestyle Fencing would like to invite you to come try a free lesson in the club, no equipment is required. The club has a very relaxed environment, but there is a low tolerance for unsafe behavior. Please call or e-mail me with any questions.
