As the days get hotter, letβs talk HYDRATION!!
Even mild dehydration can impact endurance, energy, focus on the trail, and recovery.
If youβre waiting until your run to hydrate (or until you feel thirst), youβre already playing catch- up. Aim for roughly half your body weight (in pounds) in ounces of water. Add 12 ounces for every 30 minutes of exercise.
Simple place to start: drink fluids consistently through the day and consider adding electrolytes on longer or sweatier training days. Donβt enjoy plain water? Try herbal teas, fruit-infused water, sugar-free drink mixes, or milk. Hydrating foods can also contribute a lot! Think vegetables (cucumbers, zucchini and melons are over 90% water!), soups, smoothies, yogurt, and cottage cheese.
Each Sunday leading up to Walk in the Park, Amanda will be sharing nutrition tips for runners!
