We are hard at work TRIPS Canoe Club’s name sake voyageur: “Thompson”. It is a cherished club asset in need of some love!

This boat was built between 1968 and 1970 in North Vancouver. It was one of a number of voyageurs built in BC to promote voyageur paddling following the Canadian Centennial race to Montreal in 1967. The “Thompson” has participated in several brigades including one in 1993 celebrating the Alexander Mackenzie bicentennial and one in 1986 celebrating the Parks Canada Centennial.

We are removing its rotten Keel and replacing it with a new keel-less construction, repainting and/ gel coating, as well as extensive fibre glass refinishing and repairs to its insides. We hope to make reproductions of her fabulous retro decals and have her back in service for 2026.
