We regret to announce that we have cancelled the 2020 Kamloops Dragon Boat Festival due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The safety of our participants, spectators, and volunteers will always be our first priority and unfortunately hosting an event this Summer isn't possible. We look forward to welcoming teams back to the Thompson River in 2021.

CANCELLATION OF KAMLOOPS 2017 DRAGON FESTIVAL SET FOR SATURDAY
AUGUST 12, 2017

Due to the unprecedented poor air quality that Kamloops has experienced recently due to regional wild fire activity, the festival organizers have decided that it is in the best interests of the teams to cancel the 2017 Kamloops Dragon Boat
Festival. We did not take this action easily and the decision was arrived at after considerable review and discussion. We do not want to risk the possibility that teams may have to compete during air quality conditions that may place the
paddlers’ health at risk. We believe this is the prudent course of action, taking into consideration the unpredictability of the weather and the impact that it has on wildfires and air quality in our region.
