Now that the summer ball hockey season has concluded and the kids are back in school, we are pleased to announce that the registration for the Fall season of Ball Hockey is now available on our website.

The season will include 12 regular season games and 2 playoff games exclusively on Sunday afternoons from late October to early February at the Bradford District Community Centre.

We are offering the following divisions for registration:

- U9 (Birth years 2018-2020)
- U12 (Birth years 2015-2017)
- U15 (Birth years 2012-2014)
- U17 (Birth years 2009-2012)

Please note that these divisions may be adjusted, but we will ensure that players within each division share the same three-year birth range. Any changes will be made after online registration closes in mid-October.

This season, to encourage more registrations, we have significantly reduced the price to $180 per player. The only change to the program is that uniforms will be loaned out for the season.

As the final regular season games approach this Thursday, I want to inform everyone that our championship weekend will be held at the Bradford District Community Centre on September 11 and 12.

U9 and U12 will be structured as a double elimination tournament, while our U15 will consist of three games with the most points winning!

This year, we've partnered with Perfect SZN in Bradford, located at 100 Dissette St., to provide all players with a complimentary kids' meal. This is a great way to pass the time while you wait for your next scheduled game on Saturday Sept 12.

Players have the option to select one of the following three menu items: Chicken Fingers with Fries, Mac and Cheese with Fries, or Pizza with Fries. Each meal includes a soft drink. Seating has been reserved for the South Simcoe Ball Hockey Leagues, allowing parents and family members to also enjoy a team lunch at their own expense.

All players will be provided a voucher after their scheduled game on the Saturday.

A schedule for the weekend has been posted on our website, and TeamLinkt will be updated shortly.

Medals will be awarded after teams are eliminated, and there will be team pictures taken at that time. We will provide all parents with a link to download these pictures. For insurance reasons, no parents are allowed on the playing surfaces. Only players, coaches, and South Simcoe Ball Hockey staff are permitted on the floor. Parents will have the opportunity to take pictures in the main foyer once the players exit the playing area.

I hope the kids had a great summer and we look forward to seeing you all back for the fall and winter season.

This past weekend, the South Simcoe Ball Hockey League partnered with the Canadian Mental Health Association and the parents of Destiny Ali, who sadly left this world far too soon.

Destiny was an avid hockey player who participated at all levels, so it was only fitting to host the inaugural ball hockey tournament in her honor.

You might not be familiar with Destiny, but after spending a weekend in the arena, her spirit was very much alive. Stories about her circulated everywhere you went—whether in the changing room, the main lobby, or the parking lot—everyone had a story to share.

I didn't know her personally, but after this weekend, I feel as if I did..

The tournament was held to raise awareness about mental health, which affects more people than we can imagine. All proceeds have been donated to the Canadian Mental Health Association in Barrie.

Through this tournament, along with our sponsors, 50/50 draws, and a silent auction, we were able to fundraise $7,188. The tournament consisted of 15 teams across three different levels: Coed, Men's, and Women's.

Although this year's tournament was a great success, we are looking to expand in 2027. Unfortunately, hosting the tournament this late in the summer did not provide sufficient floor time to accommodate more teams.

After our discussions, we concluded that it would be more beneficial to host the tournament next year on one of two weekends: May 28 to 30 or June 4 to 6. This scheduling will allow for more available floor time and accommodate 25 or more teams, including the introduction of U16 and U18 divisions.

I will continue to discuss with the Ali family and other organizers; however, I anticipate that registration for the 2nd Annual Destiny's Tournament of Hope will be available sometime in mid-January.

To all the players, team managers, and volunteers, I want to take a moment to express how incredibly proud I am of all of you for demonstrating great sportsmanship and composure, even during the most competitive games. Everyone displayed class throughout the entire weekend.

I would like to congratulate our three champions who graciously donated their cash prizes back to the CMHA.

Coed - Dirt Squirrels
Men's - Barrie Carnage
Women's - Storm

As the current president of the South Simcoe Ball Hockey League, I look forward to everyone's return for year two.

Make the most of the rest of the summer; it will be over before you know it.

Best regards!
Marco

Registration for the South Simcoe Fall/Winter Ball Hockey Season will begin on August 1st.

The program will take place exclusively at the Bradford District Community Centre, starting on October 25 and running until February 21. Please note that no games will be held during the Christmas holidays. Additionally, the days of play have been changed from Tuesday evenings to Sunday afternoons, starting with our younger divisions.

We will be offering the following divisions:

- U9: (2018 - 2020)
- U12: (2015 - 2017)
- U15: (2012 - 2014)
- U17: (2009 - 2012)

The season will consist of 11 regular season games plus 3 playoff games.

The fees for the season have been reduced to $180 per player.

All participants will receive a jersey that must be returned to the league at the end of the season. This policy helps keep costs down, making it affordable for new players to try ball hockey.

Included:
- OBHF Certified Officials
- Team Awards
- Year-End Pizza Celebration
- Online Player and Team Statistics
- Tryouts for Winter Provincials
- Limited Player Insurance
