Jacob had never played hockey before this season — but after watching his friends play, he decided to give it a try. Over the past year, he’s worked tirelessly to learn the game: public skating, street shooting, and studying hockey every chance he got.

His hard work paid off! In his first-ever game on October 4th, Jacob impressed his coaches with his determination, effort, and courage on the ice. By his second game, he even had a breakaway and nearly scored!

We’re so proud of Jacob for his dedication, perseverance, and love for the game. Welcome to hockey, Jacob — your Winterhawks family is cheering you on! 💙🏒

🚨 Coaching Announcement – U8 & U9 MD Winterhawks 🚨

We’re excited to introduce our MD coaches for the 2025–26 season! 🏒

🔹 Steve Hopkins will lead our U8 MD program!
Steve brings passion, experience, and a player-first mindset. After a successful 2024–25 season coaching both our U7 Local League and U7 CPP teams, he’s ready to help our youngest reps develop their skills and love for the game. 💪

🔹 Richard Caputi returns to coach our U9 MD squad!
Fresh off a fantastic season with the U8 MD team, Richard’s leadership and commitment to development have laid a strong foundation. We’re excited to see him guide this group into full-ice hockey in 2025–26! 🚨

Both coaches are committed to development, teamwork, and making hockey fun. We can’t wait to watch our Winterhawks grow under their leadership!

Hometown Pride in Buffalo!
Our Innisfil Winterhawks U7 Select team shined this past weekend at the Buffalo River Outdoor Classic! 🌨️🏒

Playing up against older 2016 & 2017-born teams, our 2018-born group showed incredible skill, heart, and passion every single game — taking on teams from Rochester, PA, NY State, and Listowel.

Coach Steve Hopkins summed it up perfectly:
💬 “They gave it their all. Competing against older teams didn’t faze them. We couldn’t be more proud of how they represented the Winterhawks and our community.”

👏 Huge thanks to our 13 amazing community sponsors for cheering us on all season long!

What a way to cap off a great year — the future is bright for these young Winterhawks! 💙💛

It is with a heavy heart that South Simcoe Minor Hockey offers our deepest condolences, thoughts, and prayers to the family, friends, and teammates of Nolan Ion, a U16A athlete with the Upper York Admirals, who tragically passed away on Tuesday evening.

Hockey often creates rivalries and fierce competition between athletes and organizations; however, moments like this remind us that we are all part of one big hockey family. The loss of one is a loss for all.

On behalf of South Simcoe Minor Hockey, we extend our support and sympathy to the Upper York Admirals organization during this difficult time. Our hearts are with you.

South Simcoe Storm U10B are 2024/25 YSMHL Champions!

After an undefeated semi- final and final playoff series, the U10B team took home gold medals on Wednesday. This team poured their hearts and energy into every game this season ending with an impressive 26-1-1 record. Congratulations to the coaches and players who all worked so hard and not only deserve the Championship title, but also showed how they can be great teammates and win with class. GREAT JOB STORM! Good luck at the OMHA Championships in Oakville next week!

🚨 HISTORY MADE! 🚨

A huge congratulations to the Nantyr Shores Tritons boys’ hockey team on earning their first-ever trip to the OFSAA Provincial Hockey Championship! 🏒💪

The Tritons secured their spot with a hard-fought 6-2 win in the GBSSA final and will now represent our community on the provincial stage in Windsor from March 17-20 — facing the top high school teams from across Ontario.

Many of these players grew up playing right here in Innisfil, and we couldn’t be prouder to see them achieving this incredible milestone.

Congratulations to the Nantyr Shores Tritons on earning their first-ever trip to the OFSAA Provincial Hockey Championship! 🏒💪

The Tritons punched their ticket with a huge 4-2 win over St. Peter’s and will now represent our community in St. Catharines from March 19–21 — facing the best high school teams in Ontario.

Many of these players grew up playing right here in Innisfil — and we couldn’t be prouder to see them making noise on the provincial stage!
