🎉This past weekend, more than 150 current members, former members, dignitaries, honoured guests and friends of HCC gathered to celebrate an extraordinary milestone - 125 years of curling in Huntsville and the grand opening of our newly renovated, modernized and fully accessible washrooms and locker rooms.
It was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on our rich history, celebrate where we are today, and look ahead to an exciting future for the Huntsville Curling Club. The pride and enthusiasm throughout both events were truly evident, making it a weekend we will remember for years to come.
👏A very special thank you to Beth Goodhew and her organizing committee - Denise Julian, Edith Warr, Perry Mercer, Heather Anderson, Bob Gibb, Dale Gibbons and Dennis Rolland - for the tremendous amount of time, effort and teamwork they put into making both events such a success.
It was a memorable weekend, milestones worth celebrating, and a moment for all of us to be proud of.

Huntsville Curling Club is proud to cheer on Braunwyn Strickland, one of our own HCC High School curlers, as she takes on an exciting new challenge with the Ontario Junior Cross Country Ski Team!

Congratulations, Braunwyn, on this incredible achievement! Wishing you the very best as you head to Whistler for Nationals. We’ll be cheering you on every step of the way! 👏🎿🥌

Local Huntsville honour-roll student and standout multi-sport athlete Braunwyn Strickland has officially been named to the Ontario Junior Cross Country Ski Team (OJST) for the 2026/27 season!

Fresh off a demanding seven-day, high-volume OJST training camp where she put in over 20 hours of intense training with up to three daily sessions, Strickland is proving that dedication and community spirit go hand in hand.

To help prepare for a rigorous winter on the snow, Strickland also competes in triathlon. She also participated in the Subaru Women’s Triathlon Festival in support of cancer research and support services. She also travelled to Kemptville to race in the Triathlon Ontario Draft Legal Junior Cup Series.

Looking ahead to the winter season, Strickland’s competitive calendar includes four Ontario Cup races, the Eastern Canadian Championships, and representing Muskoka and Ontario at the Nordiq Canada Ski Nationals in Whistler, BC, this coming March.

Reaching Nationals is both a physical and financial test. To properly acclimatize to the high elevation in Whistler, Strickland must arrive a full week ahead of the six-day event to train. The timeline overlaps with province-wide March Breaks and Easter, pushing the estimated total cost for the trip to roughly $10,000. Community support has already proven vital to Strickland’s athletic journey. Generous individual donors stepped up to cover the costs of her recent OJST training camp and have begun contributing toward Whistler Nationals.

Strickland has also actively earned her support by giving back locally.
