🇨🇦 HMA x 🇬🇧 LONDON, ENGLAND

This weekend, HMA was proudly represented at the IBJJF London Spring International Open 2026 by two dedicated competitors.

David competed in two matches, earning a hard-fought points victory in his opening bout—marking his first win as a black belt. In his second match, he was swept early and faced an uphill battle for the remainder of the match. Despite a strong effort and determined finish, he came up short against a skilled opponent.

Mélissa faced a tough opponent in her weight division and battled hard throughout the match. A late sweep shifted the momentum, ultimately resulting in a loss. Undeterred, she also entered the Open Weight division to gain additional experience and stepped onto the mat for another challenging match.

While the results may not always be what we hope for, every competition provides valuable lessons and opportunities for growth. These experiences help shape future performances and prepare us for the next challenge.

We’re proud of both athletes for stepping up, representing HMA on the international stage, and continuing to push their limits. Win or lose, it’s the progression, courage, and commitment to improvement that matter most.
