This! ππ
We've bound our love with trust and sealed our dreams for marriage, true love stories really do unfold!
WE DID SOMETHING...Harry and I tied the knot... LITERALLY!
It was hard to keep the secret because we wanted to surprise our kids... and since there are contacts everywhere, we had to keep this hush hush!
On Family day, he told them he was going to propose to me at the Medieval Bridal Fair that we were organizing the day before Mother's day (May 9 - yesterday), but it was supposed to be a SECRET, so they should not say anything to me... he wanted all of them to be there for that special moment! After 23 1/2 years, it was time to ask for my hand in marriage! π BUT OUR PLAN WAS TO GET MARRIED THEN AND SURPRISE THEM! π€£ππ
Meanwhile, WE had been trying unsuccessfully to download the Marriage License Application from the municipality's website, so we had to go to the Municipality of Trent Hills office in person to get it... and as the universe had it... my beautiful friend Dawn Welch happened to be in the office when we stopped by to get the permit.
She told us she was getting ready to become an officiant in a few weeks, so we asked her to do our wedding.
We knew she would be perfect, because well... she is perfect!
So the preparations started...
We told her we wanted a "Handfasting ceremony"... so being who she is, she said... "Ok"!
Handfasting is not your ordinary kind of ceremony so she went on to learn all about it!
Meanwhile that same day, we went out to look for the ribbons we would need for the ceremony.
This was going to be tricky because we needed 5 ribbons in 5 different colours (Red, Pink, Purple, blue (teal), and Black) but all of them of the same material!
The first place we thought of was Your #1 Sewing Centre. We went in but we couldn't find any ribbons... so we were puzzled... I didn't want to order them from the internet because I wanted to see them... so we thought... Why don't we stop at Earth Angel Designs, surely they might have something there... maybe...
To our good fortune, Jodi was about to leave as we arrived, so she showed us what she had... AND THEY WERE PERFECT but the only one they didn't have of the same kind was the black one!
This one was perhaps the most interesting one because this one represented my son Miguel Pereira. Her beautiful daughter sold us 5 of the most beautiful ribbons I could have ever wished for!!!
THINGS WERE LINING UP PERFECTLY!
Our plan for this ceremony was to "tie the knot" with ribbons that represented each one of our 5 kids...
Our "Little" Harry, OUR RED ... Energy, courage and vibrant spirit. Loving and passionate about everything he undertakes, soccer, hockey, sword fighting and now a Firefighter for our Trent Hills Fire Department in the Hastings ward (seriously, couldn't get more red than this!) β€
Miranda, OUR PINK TWIN... loving, tender, patient, caring, super smart and nurturing. She, along with Dee, are the glue that keeps our family together. π©·
Deirdre, OUR PURPLE TWIN... Strong, creative, very thoughtful and smart, loving, caring, and along with Miranda, the glue of our family. π
Summer OUR BLUE... as calm and stormy as the blue sky or the ocean. She has been our greatest teacher, and she's Mom's celestial friend forever. π©΅
And last but not least Miguel Pereira... OUR BLACK or the "black sheep" (as he affectionately calls himself). Mysterious, independent and true to himself, strong, loving and resilient. The one who started me in this beautiful Motherhood trip. π€
We carried on with the organization for the Medieval Bridal Fair and meanwhile we looked for the perfect rings... AND WE FOUND THEM! Our rings have fragments of GOLD AND METEORITE ... they are so precious and literally OUT OF THIS WORLD like our union π
Now it was on to get the flower for the bouquet... and since this was a surprise wedding, I wasn't going to get real flowers, so I found these lovely burgundy/purple lilies that look real! So when I was in Winners looking for a purse, I received a message saying that my flowers would not arrive before the date of the surprise wedding, so I was disappointed and went to look for other flowers... they had a beautiful bouquet of roses that I picked up.
When I got home, my flowers had arrived! So now I had a couple of bouquets and thought "OH! THIS IS GREAT! NOW I CAN THROW ONE AND KEEP THE ORIGINAL WITH ME!"... alignment!
