The man had fallen asleep outside a closed store in Big Bear, California, using a sleeping bag to stay warm during the night. Store security footage later showed a bear approaching him and carefully sniffing around the sleeping bag.

The bear eventually settled beside the sleeping man for several hours before leaving. When the man woke up, he noticed fur on his sleeping bag and body but had no idea what had happened until the store owner showed him the security footage.

The unusual encounter became a reminder that wild animals can behave unpredictably, especially when they are near food, shelter, or warmth. The man later packed up and left the area, after realizing how close he had been to a wild bear.

In 2016, an ultrasound showed that Margaret Boemer’s unborn daughter, LynLee, had a rare tumor near her tailbone. The tumor grew rapidly and began affecting the baby’s heart, putting the pregnancy at serious risk.

Doctors at Texas Children’s Fetal Center performed a five-hour fetal surgery when LynLee was 23 weeks and 5 days old. Surgeons carefully brought part of her body outside the womb and removed about 90% of the tumor before returning her to the uterus so the pregnancy could continue.

Thirteen weeks later, LynLee was born by C-section near full term and later had another procedure to remove the remaining tissue. She continued to receive regular medical checkups and went on to grow up normally after one of the most remarkable fetal surgeries ever performed.

In 2013, Wang Xiao was facing serious kidney failure and could not find a suitable donor. She posted online looking for someone in a similar situation, hoping a marriage arrangement might give her another chance at life. Yu Jianping, a young man living with cancer, responded after discovering that their blood types matched.

They married that year and initially agreed to support each other through their difficult circumstances. But spending so much time together in hospitals gradually changed their relationship. When Yu needed another major treatment, Wang opened a small flower stall and used their story to raise money for his medical care.

Later, Yu's health improved and Wang's condition also became more stable, meaning the original transplant plan was no longer necessary. They eventually held a proper wedding celebration in 2015 and remained together. Their unusual journey later inspired the 2024 film Viva La Vida.

On December 15, 2023, Italian photographer Valerio Minato finally captured the shot he had been planning for six years. From Castagneto Po, he photographed the Moon aligning with the Basilica of Superga and Monviso, a mountain peak in the Alps.

The alignment required precise calculations because the Moon would reach the right position only around a few times each year. Minato had already attempted the photograph five times, but changing weather ruined every attempt before the perfect moment arrived.

His final image captured the crescent Moon, the basilica, and Monviso in one remarkable composition. The long exposure also revealed the faint outline of the lunar surface through Earthshine, later helping the photograph become NASA’s Astronomy Picture of the Day.

This rare event is called heteropaternal superfecundation. It can happen when two eggs are released during the same ovulation period and are fertilized by s***m from different men within a short time. The twins still share their mother’s genetic material but can have different fathers.
