Last little American Robin living above the side entrance of my home has left the nest… and it feels shockingly sad for some reason.

On Easter weekend, the parents built the nest literally inches away from where we enter the home, and five weeks later the last fledgling is gone. What a fast and furious circle of life.

A week ago today, I went for a 70 minute hike and was still sore from it today, even though I am physically active for a living.

But now I know why.

If you’re 50+ and you’re walking all the time, but your body ihurting, you are walking wrong… just like I was. Now I’m educated and paying the intel forward so you don’t make the same mistakes.

Correct way to walk:

1. Start slow. Take 5 minutes to warm up at an easy pace, don’t jump straight into a brisk walk.


2. Posture matters. Keep your head up and aligned with your spine. Looking down (especially at your phone) puts extra strain on your neck, which is why you have back pain.

3. Keep your phone in your pocket, your spine will thank you.

4. Wear the right shoes. Good support and cushioning matter more than style.


5. Stretch after your walk to support recovery and mobility.

6. Stay consistent. Skip the “weekend warrior” approach-.shorter, regular walks are better than one long hike a week.
