I’ve gotten patents,first one was right away, got my idea draw it out, got a patent. problem is sometimes u draw ur invention out and they cant build it that way, for several particular reasons, Not engineered drawing, certain ways of building things, cheaper this way, change this to that, now it looks totally different from your patent drawing and now that patent is nullified, I think u have a year to change some or make adjustments to patent but gonna take u longer than a year to tweak it, or go through the engineering process, then prototype, see if it works well or not,find manufacturer that prototypes, Manufacture that matches your inventions needs just that takes over a year, Oh is it shelved parts your using for or to build your inventions, or do u have to make custom parts for it, so many Variables
So i wouldn’t get a patent right away until u bring ur idea or invention/ your detailed drawings to a engineer, the appropriate engineer that relates to ur invention, Example my engineers are Mechanical Engineers, Then the engineer will tweak it & produce blue prints & build it the best way as he was taught as an engineers because im not one & most inventors r not so. Then wen u do that & find out if its even possible to do & or how much, it super expensive or cheap to produce & much more
Then if Engineer tells u what u wanna hear & if its in ur budget so on so forth, Then u make prototype see if it works well, if it does make 20 of them and let people u know use it, they like it
And then if they say ya it’s great & u get good feedback from other people as welll , strangers are better, Then u get a patent, no regular joe is gonna copy your idea, its a huge process as u can see plus cost 15 grand for design & utility patent , believe me I know , patents are kinda sketch and scam & lawyers don’t tell u like , example, oh is it even possible to build it, they just wanna start the patent , yes u need one to protect your idea , definitely but i wouldnt get one without doing wat i just said , Believe me i have 2 patents , Fazzari press , dragons den season 4 episode 6 & brought my second invention to market , produced & production in China shipped to Canada believe me i been through it all
