Front crawl isn't the easiest stroke to swim. It involves many different individual skills like breathing underwater, kicking, side rotation breathing in and hand rotation.
Learning them individually might not be as daunting, when it's time to put them together you can feel like everything is starting to fall apart.
It's important to break them down into small achievable drills and do them enough till it becomes muscle memory.
Here's a progression of learning the front crawl that I like to do with my students.
