The Dalhousie Tigers consist of 14 men’s and women’s varsity teams in seven sports: basketball, cross country, hockey, soccer, swimming, track and field and volleyball. As a proud representative of Dalhousie University in Halifax, NS, each year the Tigers battle other Atlantic University Sport and Canadian Interuniversity Sport teams for league and national titles.

🚨New Tiger Alert 🚨

We are thrilled to welcome Aliyah Demone to the Dalhousie Track and Field program. Aliyah is a long sprinter, hurdler and jumper from Conquerall Bank, Nova Scotia. Aliyah comes with a competitive dance background and will be an excellent addition to our women’s program, making an immediate impact on our team.

In her first year of competitive Track and Field, Aliyah represented Team Nova Scotia at the 2025 Canada Summer Games in the 400m hurdles and the 4x400m relay.

Aliyah was the 2026 SSNS provincial champion in the 100mH and arrives with personal bests of 15.68 in the 100mH, 65.64 in the 400mH, 2:25 in the 800m, 11.02 in the TJ, and 1.50 in the HJ.

Aliyah’s early success in the sport and ability across such a variety of events make her a very exciting addition to our women’s team. We look forward to supporting her development during her time at Dalhousie and seeing what the future holds for her.

🚨New Tiger Alert 🚨

Coach Jazic announces the newest addition to the men’s soccer team, 5’9 Midfielder Jason Hartill coming from Carleton Place, Ontario.

Hartill competed with Team Ontario from 2021–23, earning a silver medal at the Canada Games, before joining the Toronto FC Academy for the 2022–23 season. In 2023–24, he played for CBU, where he helped the program capture a national championship. He most recently competed in the Canadian Premier League with York United in 2024 and Atlético Ottawa in 2025, where he was part of a CPL Championship-winning team.

Apart from his team success Jason has also been awarded some very impressive individual awards over his career. During his 2023-2024 season with CBU he earned CBU rookie of the year and achieved AUS Second-team All-star honours.

When asked about joining the Tigers, Jason spoke about his excitement to come to the city and meet everyone, adding that he is looking forward to the start of training camp and eager to see what the team can accomplish in the years ahead.

Coach Jazic shared a similar sense of excitement when asked about the new signing.

“I’m really excited to be welcoming Jason to the Tigers family for the upcoming season. Hartill will bring a wealth of experience to a Tigers squad that recently graduated several influential leaders. His leadership qualities, work ethic, and competitive nature are expected to make an immediate impact both on the field and in the locker room."

Jason is the type of player every program wants. “Despite all of his personal achievements in soccer, individual & team, he remains a team-first player who works incredibly hard for those around him. He has a tremendous engine, competes at a very high level, and possesses an excellent soccer IQ. This is no doubt a statement signing for our program and I’m excited to get to work with Jason and the rest of the team as we look to defend our AUS title.”

🚨New Tiger Alert 🚨

Dalhousie Tigers women’s soccer head coach Cindy Tye is pleased to announce the commitment of Abbey Aucoin for the 2025-26 season.

Originating from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia Abbey is a dynamic midfielder/winger who brings versatility, attacking creativity, and a relentless competitive drive to the Tigers’ lineup.

Aucoin joins the Tigers following a standout career at Acadia University, where she earned numerous athletic and academic honours. On the field, she was named Axewomen Soccer Rookie of the Year and to the U SPORTS All-Rookie Team in 2022, while also earning AUS Second Team All-Star recognition in both 2023 and 2024, along with Soccer Nova Scotia Player of the Year honours in 2023. Academically, Aucoin was recognized as a U SPORTS Academic All-Canadian from 2022–2024, earned a place on the Acadia University Dean’s List from 2022–2026, and was named an Acadia University Scholar in 2026.

Abbey expressed her excitement to become a Tiger.

“I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to continue both my academic and athletic career at Dalhousie. It is an honour to join such a respected program in the place where I am from while being surrounded by the community that has supported me throughout my journey.”

Head Coach Cindy Tye also expressed her excitement about her team’s newest addition.

“Abbey comes to us as a proven performer in the AUS. Her competitive drive is contagious and evident not only in her play, but in the way she elevates those around her. She is a versatile attacking player who can play anywhere across the front four, linking effectively with teammates while also being a constant threat around goal. Abbey leads by example both on and off the field, and we are excited to welcome a student-athlete of her calibre to the Tigers.”

🚨New Tiger Alert 🚨

Coach Plato has announced the signing of 6’7 guard Glen Cox of Scotsburn, Nova Scotia, to the Dalhousie men’s basketball team.

The 6’7 guard Joins the Tigers following previous seasons with UPEI, University of the Fraser Valley, and Acadia University. During his time at Acadia, Cox would emerge as one of the top scorers in U SPORTS, averaging 22.1 points per game over the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 seasons. He earned AUS First-team All-star honours and led the AUS in scoring in 2023-24 while finishing second nationally in U SPORTS scoring. He was also named an AUS Second-team All-star in 2024-25 and earned AUS Tournament All-star recognition in 2021-22.

When asked why he chose to become a Tiger, he spoke about the culture Coach Plato has built within the program, highlighting its strong emphasis on hard work, accountability, and high-level competition.

Coach Plato shared his excitement about adding Glen to the Tigers’ roster.

“We are excited about the commitment of a player with Glen’s pedigree. His scoring ability is unquestioned and his unique ability to finish in transition is dynamic. Glens’ scoring abilities will be a huge boost to the Tigers’ offence this year. Most importantly, Glen is committed to being a complete team player and with his experience, dedication, and commitment to finishing his career on a positive note, I firmly believe that Glen will be a major force for us this season.”

Coach Jazic announces the addition of goalkeeper James Craig for 2026-27 season.

Craig, a talented goalkeeper from Wolfville, Nova Scotia, will join the team for the upcoming season while pursuing a Commerce degree.

Craig brings strong experience to the Tigers. He has represented Team Nova Scotia for two consecutive years (2023–2025), highlighted by a fourth-place finish at the 2025 Canada Games in Newfoundland. He currently competes with Valley United’s senior men’s team and has also developed his game through the BMO Whitecaps Academy in 2023 and 2024.

Off the field, Craig has demonstrated consistent academic excellence at Horton High School, earning Honours with Distinction in each year of his studies.

“I chose Dalhousie because of the impressive Commerce program, and I believe it will be a great fit for me both academically and athletically,” says Craig. “I’m super excited to be joining the Tigers. I believe it’s a great program where I’ll be able to learn a lot and continue to improve as a player. I’m looking forward to this new challenge and can’t wait to get started in August.”
Head Coach Alan Jazic is equally enthusiastic about Craig’s addition to the squad.

“I’m excited to welcome James to the Tiger family. He is a great young keeper who has experience playing at the highest levels in youth soccer, including the Canada Games and the Halifax Wanderers developmental programs,” says Jazic. “I like James’ frame as a goalkeeper—he has great shot-stopping ability and is a strong, commanding presence in his area. James has great potential and all the qualities to be a top keeper in this league. More importantly, he truly wanted to be a Dalhousie Tiger, and I’m really looking forward to working with him over the next four to five years.”

The Dalhousie Tigers men’s soccer program is excited to add Halifax native Zach Chen, a high-achieving student-athlete who brings both academic excellence and on-field versatility to the team.
A strong student-athlete, Chen is a National Champion with Suburban FC and currently plays in the Wanderers U18 program. He’s a versatile defender who can play right back, wing back, center back, and midfield. His adaptability and tactical awareness make him a valuable asset in a variety of game situations.

“Zach is a tireless worker who takes pride in the defensive side of the game while maintaining excellent positional balance,” said Coach Jazic. “What stands out most is his ability to play in several positions at a high level. He’s a great teammate with a very high ceiling for growth, and I’m really excited to work with him over the next several years.”

“I’m excited to join Dalhousie for both the academics and athletics,” said Chen. “I’m looking forward to developing as a player and helping the team defend its AUS title.”

Dalhousie Athletics & Recreation is pleased to announce the appointment of Jon Greenwood as Head Coach of the Dalhousie Tigers men’s hockey program.

Jon Greenwood brings a decade of high-performance coaching experience to the Tigers, joining Dalhousie after leading the Truro Bearcats to a Maritime Junior A championship and a 14-point turnaround in two seasons.

His background includes time with Saint Mary’s (U SPORTS) and seven seasons with the Halifax Mooseheads (QMJHL), along with national and regional coaching roles.

“I’m incredibly proud of what we accomplished in Truro, especially winning a Maritime Junior A championship with a group that bought into the process every day,” said Greenwood. “The opportunity to join Dalhousie and lead a U SPORTS program is something I’m very excited about. With the recent opening of the Oulton-Stanish Centre, a strong nucleus of returning players, and a clear commitment to excellence, I’m looking forward to building something special with the Tigers.”

Greenwood will assume leadership of the Dalhousie men’s hockey program on May 15 and begin preparations for the 2026–27 U SPORTS season.
