Happy Friday! You made it! Someone asked me the other day..."Why do you do Irish Stick Fighting?"
That question made me do some reflecting. The easy answer is that I love it and it is a part of my heritage. The bigger answer is not as simple.
Practicing and creating content keeps me focused. It pulls me.
Learning and listening to how your body moves helps me physically (and in a hard to explain way - helps me mentally).
I have done competitive longsword and other HEMA disciplines, medaled and even met Arnold Shwarzenegger twice! Bataireacht - Irish Stick Fighting is something that connects with me on a deeper level.
I love the seeming simplicity of the art. It is not simple but not overly complicated either. It is efficient and brutal at its core. It can also be graceful.
This is one of the BIGGEST reasons... I want to share this art with as many people as possible. The access to a training tool is not prohibitive (like a $600 training longsword lol).
