Another new Tamarack custom frame, back from paint. This one is an all-roads/gravel disc brake, Reynolds 853 Pro Team frameset built to clear 650b x 48’s or 700c x 42 tires, the paint is DuPont Imron “Las Vegas Gold Metallic” with metallic black panels and crown. Built with silver brazed lugged construction, it features internal routing for the rear disc brake through the down tube, and wide clearances for big tires. This one is up for purchase. Designed with a 6-degree sloping top tube, it’s the equivalent of a 56cm level seat tube (actual seat tube is 51cm CTC) with a 54cm top tube - call it a “medium” in today’s language. Stack = 570, reach = 370, head angle 71.5, seat angle 73, full geometry deets available upon request. Interested? Contact me…

Mark’s new Tamarack frameset is out in the sun. This compact beauty is built for 57-reach sidepull brakes with clearance for 700x35’s, and features some lightly-modified Richard Sachs lugs, Columbus Spirit tubing, and stainless Paragon dropouts front and rear. The Porsche Cherry Red looks amazing in the sunshine! The colour-matched stem is by WrenSports. This handsome devil will soon be winging its way to the USA. Thanks for looking!

One of my steel progeny made its way back home this week - built in 1997 (eeek, 29 years ago!), this one was commissioned by a former co-worker at my ex-shop - his nickname became “Cruiser Jim” for a while! This one is a mix of Reynolds 531 and 753, with a “lo-pro” curved top tube and a second top tube, with fastback seatcluster, a Kona Project Two fork, and a retro paint scheme. The last 15 years, Jim’s been more into Ducati’s and BMW 1000’s, and got tired of moving it around his garage, so he dropped it off to me. Looks like it’s going to get stripped, beadblasted, and resprayed to look like new again!

So, the seatstay tops were sculpted, the stays brazed into place, the final braze-ons added, and Mark’s new Tamarack road frame is ready for paint. This one is built with Columbus Spirit tubing, some slightly-modified Richard Sachs lugs, a Long Shen flat-top crown, and stainless Paragon dropouts front and rear. Always satisfying to stamp the serial number on a completed frame build. Oh, wait, not completely ready for paint… I do have to buff the faces of the stainless dropouts and mask them off… oh well, tomorrow…

Some progress on Mark’s new all-roads Tamarack frameset. This one’s built with Columbus Spirit tubing, for 57-reach sidepulls allowing tires of 700x35 or 700x38. Mark selected Richard Sachs’ “Nuovo Richie” lugs with a few modifications; I removed the forward tangs, and shortened the lug points to suit the 51cm geometry’s head tube length. The main triangle’s done now, on to the rear triangle next. Coming along nicely, I think.

I just added the build photos of David's 853 Pro Team frame build to my photo gallery, if you're interested - lots and lots of process pics.

David's custom Reynolds 853 Pro Team Disc frame's build. David wanted an all-roads geometry capable of fitting tires from 700x32 to 700x8, without fender mounts in the fork and frame. He requested a stainless steel sleeve for the front derailleur mount area so that changing the size of the outer cha...

Tamarack frame # 161 is ready for paint. This one is an all-roads/gravel disc brake, Reynolds 853 Pro Team frameset built to clear 650b x 48’s or 700c x 42 tires. Built with silver brazed lugged construction, it features internal routing for the rear disc brake through the down tube, and wide clearances for big tires. This one is up for purchase - planning to paint it metallic gold Imron in the next week or so, but if someone wants a custom paint job, contact me…. Interested? Contact me.

Progress coming along on the next Tamarack custom frame - this one’s a lugged silver-brazed Reynolds 853 Pro Team all-roads machine. With the main triangle finished, I carved the seatstay tops from some sheet steel plate into an interesting 3d shape and brazed them in place. With the fender bridges are installed, the main frame is complete - now on to building the fork.
