Hi Friends! Here is the mantra I sang at the end of tonight's Yoga class, sung by Nirnjan Kaur. This mantra breaks through calamities, misfortunes, and obstructions in life, and dissolves anything negative, erasing bad karma.

Background:
The Nam Myoho Renge Kyo mantra It is a central mantra in the practice of Nichiren Buddhism, which originated in Japan and emphasizes the belief in the Lotus Sutra as the ultimate teaching of the Buddha.

The history of the "Nam Myoho Renge Kyo" mantra can be traced back to the teachings of the Japanese Buddhist monk Nichiren Daishonin, who lived in the 13th century from 1222 –1282. Nichiren believed that chanting this mantra could lead to enlightenment and spiritual awakening.

The translation of "Nam Myoho Renge Kyo" is often interpreted as "I devote myself to the mystic law of the Lotus Sutra.

The Lotus Sutra is a sacred text in Mahayana Buddhism that teaches important lessons about compassion, wisdom, and the potential for enlightenment in all beings.

The essence of Buddhism is the conviction that we all have within us the ability to overcome any problem or difficulty that we may encounter in life, and to overcome suffering.

Nichiren awakened to this principle, and named it “Nam-myoho-renge-kyo.”

Nam-myoho-renge-kyo is thus a vow, a pledge It is a pledge to oneself to never yield to difficulties and to win over one’s suffering.

Meaning of Lotus
The lotus flower is emerges from muddy water as a beautiful blossom. Metaphorically, similarly, the beauty and dignity of our humanity is brought forth amidst the sufferings of daily reality.

Unlke other plants, the lotus brings forth both flowers and fruit at the same time. This illustrates that we do not have to wait to become someone perfect in the future- we can bring forth the power of the Mystic Law from within our lives at any time.

Happy Saturday! I started my morning by listening to this beautiful mantra by Shantala.

The "Baba Hanuman Mantra" is a sacred mantra that can be traced back to ancient Hindu scriptures and texts. It is dedicated to Lord Hanuman, a revered deity in Hinduism known for his strength, devotion, and loyalty. The mantra is sung to invoke the blessings and protection of Lord Hanuman and is believed to help to overcome obstacles, fears, and challenges in life.

Origins

The Gayatri Mantra first appeared in the ancient text, the Rig Veda, which was written in Sanskrit about 2500 to 3500 years ago.

The Gayatri mantra is one of the oldest and most powerful of Sanskrit mantras. It is believed that by chanting the Gayatri mantra and firmly establishing it in the mind, and if you carry on your life and do the work that is ordained for you, your life will be full of happiness.

The mantra is translated as follows:
“The eternal, earth, air heaven
That glory, that resplendence of the sun
May we contemplate the brilliance of that light
May the sun inspire our minds”

MEANING

Om shreem maha Lakshmiyei svaha is a mantra that calls upon the Hindu goddess of wealth, Lakshmi, to grant both worldly and spiritual prosperity.

the mantra begins with the word om. “Om” is thought to constitute the divine in the form of sound.

The next word, “shreem”, is the bija, or seed, mantra for the goddess Lakshmi. The shreem mantra is thought to increase beauty and wealth.

The word “maha” means great. In this case it means great in reference to the Goddess Laksmi.

Lakshmyyei is the name Lakshmi with an ending, “yei” to indicate that something is to, or for - referencing that our mantra if to or for her.

svaha translates as "so it is".

This mantra/statement is from the Rig Veda, which is the oldest of the ancient texts called the Vedas, which originated between 1500-1200 BCE.

Jai Jai Ma is a powerful Sanskrit mantra that is used to invoke the Divine Mother energy within, and offer sincere thanks to Mother Earth.

Meaning
Om Namo: I bow to the wisdom of life
Bhagavate: God
Vasudevaya: the supreme divinity who lives in all lives

I bow down to divine light within me, which is aware of the unity of all things. This is a mantra of liberation which frees one of the cycle of death and reincarnation, and helps to connect with the divine.
