Well Dear friends,
We have spent the last 5 weeks building a practice from the ground up; breaking it down and carefully looking at how all the bricks and mortar fit to build a home. The bricks of course are the feet, knees, hips, neck and shoulders. The mortar of is all the connective tissues; how well the joints join, ligaments link, and the muscles move.
All of this of course doesn’t come together smoothly unless the power center (your brain and your will ) work together to get to the mat. You are the master builder. Yoga gives you an awareness and the master building tools to look at life and see how to assemble the building blocks and come up with the life you want. …and yup there are speed bumps,(some times huge mountains to climb to get to the place you need to be in)
This final week we will look at ways we can put it all together in our everyday life to build this structure (body, mind and spirit) and maintain it as there is something to be learned from each day of living..
I’m looking forward to seeing you there to close down the early spring sessions and move smoothly into the growing season.
Classes are at the CLC Tuesdays at 7:00PM and Thursday mornings at 10:30AM. All levels welcome.

Building your practice Ground to Crown. week 5.

Yikes! Tech neck ( it’s a thing. Google it.) Frozen shoulder (its a thing too!) Yoga ( its a thing too that has been around for at least 5000 years. Tech neck has been identified only a few years ago..)
This week we are taking a look at the yoga practices that will deal with these issues.
Come on down to the CLC for a little TLC,Mindful yoga, and some “neck-ercises”and shoulder openers.
As usual …all levels welcome.
Tuesday at 7:00 pm and Thursday at 10:30 am.

Ground to Crown week 4
Aaahhhh the hips ….the most powerful and one of the most complex of all groups of muscles, tendons and ligaments in our bodies. When we don’t pay attention to the job that they were designed to do they sure let us know.
This week we will be focus on moving with intention and will be doing a sequence designed to improve flexibility and strength and to provide us with an awareness of correct alignment.
The practice will not involve as much static holding but more somatic movement where we will focus more on how the pose feels internally rather than how it looks.
Please wear a pair of shoes that you find comfortable to walk in, an older pair that you can see the pattern of their use, as we will briefly revisit the info we did on feet and knees in past weeks. A cosy blanket and warm socks will be useful too.
As usual the classes are at the CLC Tuesday at 7:00 pm and on Thursday at 10:30am

Building a practice from the ground to crown. Week 3

This week we are taking a closer look at how we treat our knees. Let’s take some time to look at what we do that can make things worse and what we can do to make it a little better.

Our knees are so important to our mobility and balance and here again our alignment is so important. Where our head, heart and hips are can affect our gate and the stress we put on our knees.

I welcome you to show your knees some love this week and take in one ( or both) of the two classes offered on this subject. You will be treated to a gentle posture flow addressing the “knees needs” and a few suggestions for strengthening those lovely knee joints. Please bring a large bath towel that you can use a prop assist.
Again classes are at 7:00 PM on Tuesday and 10:30 AM on Thursday at the CLC Drop in fee is $10.
