June is Seniors Month. This year, the Government of Ontario encourages us all to “Let’s Get Moving”, and we’re proud to support that mission.

2026 also marks the 60th anniversary of Ontario’s Seniors Active Living Centres (SALC), helping older adults stay active, connected, and engaged in their communities.

At the YMCA of Three Rivers, we’re proud that our A.R. Kaufman Family YMCA is a designated SALC. Through programs like Chat & Play Café, Arts & Crafts, Rock Steady Boxing, and our Neuro Fit program, we create a welcoming space where seniors can stay active, social, and supported.

Across all of our facilities, we are passionate about helping seniors thrive, both inside and out.

That's a wrap on the 2026 Women of Distinction Awards, and what a spectacular night it was!

The room was brimming with inspiring and empowering honourees, alumnae and the community who all came together to celebrate the contribution of women who've worked to improve the quality of life in Guelph, and beyond.

We would like to extend our congratulations to this year's honourees:
Amanda Kavchak
Dr. Giannina Descalzi
Lynn Vanschaik
Stephanie Minett
Terrie Jarvis
Young Trailblazer: Jasmine Arora
Lifetime Achievement: Susan Carey

Thank you to our generous sponsors for helping make this night possible, and to our community that continues to show up for women, girls and gender-diverse youth.

We look forward to keeping the celebration going in 2027 as we host our alumnae event that brings together past honourees and recognizes their impact, talents and connections.

This (May 31 - June 6), a group of Health Management staff, volunteers and participants have committed to completing 500 kilometres through a mix of accessible cardio equipment and track time.

This challenge is currently underway, and participants have already surpassed this target, currently sitting at 550 km, with six days to go!

Our Health Management programs support individuals living with and recovering from illness or disability. With this 500 km commitment, these members are working incredibly hard to demonstrate just how important our Health Management programs are to them and to the community.

Whether it’s $0.25 per km walked or $25 overall, just like every step, every dollar counts. Your gift is a reminder that the Y is for everyone, and all abilities.

Access changes everything. When barriers are removed, people feel seen, valued, and ready to thrive.

At the YMCA of Three Rivers, accessibility is a priority, from inclusive spaces and programs to financial assistance and community supports that open doors for all.

National AccessAbility Week is a reminder that Canada is stronger and more accessible when inclusion is built through everyday actions, shared spaces, and a commitment to belonging for all.

Together, let’s strive to be part of creating moments where everyone can participate,
connect, and shine.
