Trainer POV: Lately, I’ve been feeling a little stiff and noticed my progress in the gym seemed a little stuck, so I did a little research and decided to add something new to compliment my strength training routine: Reformer Pilates
As much as I love coaching all week, I thought it might help to put myself back in the student seat and be coached in a completely different modality. Enter Pilates, where all those small, often overlooked muscles get a lot of extra attention 😅
I first met Tamara (owner of Complete Fit Pilates & Fitness Studio here in Grimsby) a few years ago at a Stott Total Barre training. I knew she would be the perfect person to teach me a thing or two on the Reformer, so I reached out to her and she was happy to help. WOW… humbling is an understatement 😳 But honestly? I’m so glad I've been doing it.
Even just once per week, I can already feel the benefits: better mobility, stronger stabilizers, and a body that feels more balanced overall. And don’t worry… I’m not giving up on heavy lifting or coaching anytime soon. (That would just be crazy talk! 😂)
I’m a big believer in cross-training if it fits your lifestyle, budget, and schedule. Lifting, Pilates, yoga, hiking, running, dancing… there’s room for all of it. Movement should feel good AND bring you joy!
If you’ve been curious about Pilates or want to see how it can help level up your lifting game, go check out . They provide a welcoming, knowledgeable team that truly cares (and I love that).
Trust me… your body will thank you. Stay tuned for more updates as I move on to starting group reformer classes. 💪😉
Big thank you to Tamara for being a kind and patient coach during my introductory private sessions. 🙏🏼💕
