🏊‍♂️❤️🖤🤍 Nickel City Aquatics Shines at the Fred Rams B Championships! 🖤🤍❤️🏊‍♀️

Fifteen Nickel City Aquatics swimmers travelled to Timmins this past weekend to compete at the Fred Rams B Championships, and what a weekend it was!

Our team earned an incredible 225.5 points, finishing 4th overall among all participating clubs. To top it off, NCA proudly brought home the Small Team Banner, awarded to the highest-scoring small team at the meet!

What makes this achievement even more special is that every single swimmer contributed points toward the team total, showcasing the depth, determination, and teamwork that define Nickel City Aquatics. Even more exciting, all 15 swimmers achieved at least one personal best time, a testament to their hard work and commitment throughout the season.

A special congratulations goes out to our individual award winners:
🏆 Naji Shurrab – High Point Trophy, 8 & Under Boys Division
🏆 Charlie Richardson – High Point Trophy, 11-12 Boys Division

These awards recognize the top overall performers in their age groups and reflect outstanding efforts throughout the competition.

We are incredibly proud of every swimmer, coach, and family who helped make this success possible. Congratulations on an amazing weekend of racing and representing NCA with pride. We can't wait to see what next season brings!

Our small but mighty team of four — Jennifer Abols, Erin Ethelston, Carol Mourre, and Johanna Westby — put together an impressive weekend of racing!

🏊‍♀️ Individual Highlights:

* Jennifer placed 5th in 50 Back and 6th in 50 Breast
* Carol placed 6th in 50 Breast
* Johanna placed 6th in 50 Back (PB!), also earning PBs in 200 Breast, and a strong 4th place finish in 400 IM
* Erin placed 5th in both 100 Fly and 100 IM, and brought home 🥉 bronze medals in 50 Back, 400 Free, and 100 Free

💪 Relay Results:

* 5th in 4x50 Free
* 4th in 4x100 Medley

🔥 Team Scoring:

* Jen: 25 points
* Johanna: 49 points
* Carol: 53 points
* Erin: 88 points

➡️ Overall Team Results:

* 246 points total
* 26th out of 45 teams overall
* 19th out of 36 women’s teams

This weekend, NCA swimmers had the incredible opportunity to virtually meet Canadian Olympic swimmer Summer McIntosh and gain insight into how she set and achieved her goals in the pool.

She answered some fantastic questions from our swimmers, sharing her experiences, mindset, and advice. It was an inspiring session, and our athletes walked away motivated and eager to apply what they learned to their own swimming journeys. 🇨🇦🏊‍♂️

Before the first race even begins, our swimmers circle up, get loud, and lock in together. It’s more than just a tradition—it builds energy, focus, and that strong sense of team we carry onto the pool deck.

That moment reminds everyone that they’re not racing alone. They’ve got their teammates behind them, pushing them to be their best 💪🔥
